New thread for the inmates of Toddler Towers. Strange to think, it's about two completely different cats, from the original
Thread. But Magic, Maia and Cheddar will never be forgotten.

Oh, very cute.

Penelope is helping with my referencing. I'm trying to reach for my tea, and she keeps pawing my arm to stop me!

I like her 'button' of dark fur, cute and stylish!

Toddlerteaplease · 04/11/2024 06:31

Yes. She's much calmer. She enjoys playing with toys, Penelope is very judgmental of this. 😹. The only issue we've had is that Dotty has chased her a few times, which is making her a bit nervous. But other than that she leaves her alone.

I've just given Penelope some ear cleaning drops and she's sloped off to sulk in her litter tray. 😹 Sorry girl. It's for your own good.

It would appear that I am forgiven.

Excellent news. Is that for the ear drops or for Dottie though 🤔

(Need another picture of her too!!) Grin

Toddlerteaplease · 05/11/2024 06:49

@Pixiedust1234 ear drops. It's going well with Dotty, but not sure I'm
Entirely forgiven for that. But they had a nose rub yesterday!

Penelope is seeing the ophthalmologist this afternoon. So fingers crossed we can get some answers. The swabs have arrived, so I'm going to pick them up from
My vet and take them to our appointment, and ask them to do them. To save to vet visits in one day. (She has a check up booked for tonight) I'll cancel that and use it for a check up for Dotty instead.
We've had a bit of a blip on the introductions front. It was going very well until Penelope's eye flared up. Dotty chased her a couple of times, as she'd done before.l, which didn't bother Pen. But this time she was up to her eyeballs on gabapentin and feeling more fragile, so it scared her. I've separated them again when I'm not there. And feeding separately again. Other than that. Pen will happily sit on my chest, with Dotty the other side. Both having head massages at the same time!

Excuse the scruffy PJ's

Good luck for Pen later, let's hope they can figure it out 🍀

I think it's a wise move keeping them separated for now unless you are there to stop any bad interactions. You have one cat in pain and feeling vulnerable and another who is settling in and feeling more confident. Not a good mix for now.

Toddlerteaplease · 07/11/2024 11:40

@Pixiedust1234 I was absolutely gutted. It had been going so well. However Pen is now much more her normal self. And nose rubs have been resumed.

OP posts:
Pixiedust1234 · 07/11/2024 13:29

I have no doubt these two will settle into a good rhythm in time, they seem very evenly matched in size, energy, sweetness, needs, etc but pain or illness in one can cause primal animal instincts of dominance/hunting to kick in. I think it's something us humans don't like to think about too much where our pets are concerned.

Excellent news on the nose rubbing Grin

Pudmyboy · 07/11/2024 15:27

Pen and Dot are both very pretty, I really hope they become best mates/sisters in the ruling of Toddler Towers!

Toddlerteaplease · 07/11/2024 16:40

Well, surprising diagnosis from the ophthalmologist! Basically because her eyes are so huge, the lids aren't protecting them properly, so they dry out, causing ulcers. She's always slept with her eyes partially open. Good news, is it's fixable with surgery.

OP posts:
Toddlerteaplease · 07/11/2024 16:58

It might be my imagination, but after one dose of lubricating drops, she seems loads happier. So I wonder how uncomfortable her eye have always been.

OP posts:
Anniegetyourgun · 07/11/2024 17:01

Good news that the eye condition is treatable. Bad news, I bet it isn't cheap!

Toddlerteaplease · 07/11/2024 17:12

Around £1700. Fortunately she's very well insured!

OP posts:
Toddlerteaplease · 07/11/2024 17:15

I was a bit shocked by the diagnosis, as I was sure it was a virus. But actually I'm glad it's a structural issue that can be fixed.

OP posts:
Cailleach1 · 07/11/2024 19:45

Poor Penelope. I’m glad it is fixable, and insurance will cover it. Just another hill to climb, and then fingers crossed you’ll all (to mix my methapors) have smooth sailing.

learieonthewildmoor · 07/11/2024 19:53

I love the photos of them together with you. Too sweet.
Poor Pen! Fingers crossed it’s all sorted by the surgery and drops. How’s she coping with the eye drops?

Ellmau · 07/11/2024 20:38

It makes sense really that it's structural as it's kept recurring. Hopefully this will fix it!

Toddlerteaplease · 07/11/2024 20:59

Used Pens vet appointment for Dotty instead. She was mortified that she hadn't thought of that.

OP posts:
Toddlerteaplease · 07/11/2024 20:59

Dotty got a clean bill of health and the vet loved her.

OP posts:
Toddlerteaplease · 07/11/2024 21:02

She's used to eyedrops. So not bad. I would imagine that the drops when she had an ulcer really sting. But these wont. And make her feel more comfortable. I
