Cat had tumour removed but won't keep body suit on

She is a nervous thing anyway. But has just had a large mammary tumour removed. Vet sent her home in a suit, I immediately had to roll it up to her waist because she was just getting her back legs stuck in it.

Have had to put the whole thing back on multiple times over night and now she's hiding under the bed because she's (rightly) not trusting me.

When she was spayed she had a cone but that only lasted a few hours it was more stressful than the suit

She's got quite a big, lumpy, sutured area so I'm worried she will try to pull the stitches

Back to vet tomorrow for a check but any ideas?

Could you try an inflatable cat collar?

I only have experience of them with dogs, but they're not quite as intrusive as a full collar and seem to get in the way of them doing other things (eating, lying down) than a full cone

Try a donut cone instead. It's nowhere near as restrictive for their vision and they can still move and eat properly in it.

I will try but absolutely anything on her and she's twisting and falling over trying to get it off. Little pest

@Frazzled0 aww get well soon Kitty 🐱
Is the suit one especially designed for cats?
I've seen pictures where people use a baby grow - as in a human baby one - because cats can't escape from those as easily apparently.

After much escaping and several trips back to the vets, my friend had to put her cat in a human baby gros which she then used gaffer tape on too. Looked utterly ridiculous but it worked!

Yes it's a cat one, I will have to have a look at human ones though would need to be tiny she's only small even though she's 13

Oh bless her - she does look annoyed!

Is the suit too big for her? Whenever mine wear them they are skintight so they can’t get their legs out

GreyGooseFeather · 12/06/2024 09:32

Mine was really traumatised by the suit and after a few days I took it off her and kept an eye on her. She was clearly much happier after that.

I do wonder whether immobilising them is part of the plan with those suits? Because a lot of cats seem to refuse to move with them on.

I would try the donut if that’s an option.

I shouldn't be laughing at the photos of these severely pissed off cats, but I am 😆

You can find newborn baby gros in charity shops for pence. Or when Princess Nemmy Poof ruptured her spay stitches, the only thing she didn't wriggle out of was the leg of an old pair of leggings with 4 holes cut in it for her legs. She was overjoyed at having to wear that 😆

Perhaps it's too big-ver should solve.
My cat wouldn't walk in his but vet said to persist and he would. He did too! Very cute.

Wow, that’s a cat hoarding up grievances if ever I saw one. Revenge is a dish best eaten cold as they say…..😐
