I'm worried about my cat after his sister was PTS

They have lived together for a little over 11 years and for almost 11 years it has been with me at my house. They came from a rescue centre. They are half siblings and he is about 6 months older. I took her to the vet and did not expect her to be so seriously ill that she had to be put to sleep. I came home and told DCat. The morning after she died he was on the counter where I used to feed her and it looks like he pooed in her bed, also on the counter. Last week he had slept in her bed a couple of times with her on the floor. I wonder if he knew. He is 12 ish.

He isn't doing anything different except tea is 4.30 and he's asleep near to me not asking for it. How will I know if he's okay? We can't lose him as well.

My other cat and dog seem okay.

One of our brother dcats was pts. His db pined for 5 months. They were 8yo. I caved and got a dkitten. Within 2 weeks they were sharing a bed. Been over 3 years of happiness now.. Would you consider a lone rescue op? Ours was 8 weeks and a mere 1.2 kg. So tiny for ages.

I hadn't thought about getting another other than I am moving house so it would have to be once moved, not before. He isn't alone, as I said I have another cat and a dog but this was his sister. The other cat came five years ago and isn't his actual sister.
