If I am picky and fickle about what food I eat........

what food might be worth trying next ?

Dry cat biscuits are the favourite - pouches are much less popular. Out of the dry and hopefully healthier options, James Wellbeloved has been the favourite but now is becoming an also-ran. IAMS gets ignored or kicked around the kitchen floor. Canagan was left in disgust. Something made out of insects was also not a winner.
Any others worth a go ?

Royal canin of choice. Salmon of the fresh variety....

maudelovesharold · 20/04/2024 18:24

If you want to give pouches a last go, you could try ‘meowing heads’. It stinks to high heaven, but my picky cat loves it!

BookWorm45 · 20/04/2024 19:31

I've just looked up "meowing heads" as never heard of that one, thank you !

Gourmet Gold Pate or Mon Petit.

Very, very pongy!

Not as pongy as ‘Meowing Heads’, I can tell you!

pelotonaddiction · 20/04/2024 22:37

Purr and miaow is cheap and decent, my cat loves it
Although not my cat won't go near it so...

JaceLancs · 20/04/2024 22:40

Finlay loves the royal canin kitten biscuits almost as much as dreamies

Toddlerteaplease · 20/04/2024 22:41

Mine loved Royal canin but cheddar couldn't tolerate it. They like Amazon lifelong dry. It's grain free and not to expensive.

ToddUnctious1 · 20/04/2024 22:44

Nothing. Literally nothing works with mine for long. I have tried absolutely everything from delivered stuff like Taked and Katkin to every single brand you can buy in a shop. Biscuits and wet food - all the same.

So I just cycle through them now tbh and I've toughened up a bit. If she doesn't eat something she was eating the week before, tough tits!

But I then give her some dreamies and a piece of chicken or cheese so I'm a useless softy of a cat parent

Scampuss · 20/04/2024 22:50

Mine much prefers dry and will only eat Purina One (chicken) reliably. Of all the many others I've tried, Iams Naturally is ok. She demands a pouch every morning (Gourmet Mon Petit) but mostly just licks it a bit.

Considering she was picked up as a semi-feral stray, I did not expect her to be so fussy (or so useless at hunting).

BlackCatsAreBrilliant · 20/04/2024 22:51

Mine will eat both the Harrington's dry and wet. I'm not sure how much they like it - but at least they eat it up.

They loved the Animonda Carny but it made their litter trays unbearable so I stopped getting it.

Shodan · 20/04/2024 22:53

Elderly Lady Cat likes Purina One- but she also goes mad for a nice bit of Vaseline, so I'm not sure you can trust her tastebuds.

Elderly Gentleman Cat won't touch dry food, or any kind of pouch (expensive or cheap) other than Gourmet Perle Ocean Delicacies or Seaside Duo.

I serve them the 'disliked' ones if they come shouting at me for lunch ( they're only supposed to have breakfast and dinner but sometimes they get greedy)

Blueuggboots · 20/04/2024 23:00

Raw food? My bengals eat raw but are still fussy....they'll only eat rabbit, mixed game and occasionally chicken...

TwoBlueFish · 20/04/2024 23:13

Mine likes HiLife It’s Only Natural pouches and Iams complete chicken biscuits.

gladwhiskers · 20/04/2024 23:47

Scrumbles dry food chicken flavour. Hills dental dry food. Both considered treats!

gladwhiskers · 20/04/2024 23:57

And Sheba perfect portions luxury paté chicken flavour. Tiny at 37.5g each one but apparently irresistible.

KatPurrson · 21/04/2024 00:16

Royal Canin or Scrumbles.
Also maybe try Hilife duck treats or chicken treats if you haven’t already, our fussy eater loves them.

My picky cat sniffed this and gagged 🤣🤣🤣

Felix as good as it looks is the preferred wet, and either scrumbles or purple purina as dry food.

RandomMess · 21/04/2024 00:22

Eden, high quality very high protein. They don't need much and far less 💩 out the other end!

therealcookiemonster · 21/04/2024 00:23

raw food or steamed chicken/fish with some veggies is the best IMHO.

we feed our cats steamed chicken, poached or soft boiled eggs and anything they can steal off our plates.

Mine won't touch fish, egg, ham, anything raw or anything that you might expect a cat to like

He might eat roast chicken, might not depending on the day, temperature of the meat and whether he feels like indulging the human Hmm

I would love to have him on a decent all wet food or raw diet but I've compromised with crappy Sheba wet (he won't touch any other) and a decent grain free dry

Animonda Carny is popular in this house, though it's expensive so they don't get it often.

Day to day they get Sheba finest flakes - either jelly or gravy.

I’m the one who gags, while the cat scoffs the lot!
