So our 1yo cat had the chop today & the vet said he'd be quiet & subdued when we got him home.

Is he arse! He's obsessed with wanting to play fetch so I've a small pile of springs building up that he keeps finding & bringing to me & he's now so frustrated he's taken to mounting my arm & 'biting' my wrist. Frankly, he looks off his tits, his pupils are like dinnerplates! I'm not even his person, my youngest son is!

Is this usual behaviour for post-op males?

One of mine was completely mad when I brought him home - the vets said to keep him in, but he was bouncing off the walls so I let him out and he worked some of his excess energy off. The other didn't seem to notice that anything had happened....

The drugs can give them, can make them a bit wired. 😂 hopefully he'll settle down and have a long sleep soon. He's gorgeous!

Laurama91 · 08/04/2024 17:59

Mine was same as yours. Anything the vet tells me he is the opposite 😂

LostCats · 08/04/2024 20:33

Hee hee. He does look a bit off his tits doesn’t 🤣🤣

Caerulea · 08/04/2024 21:18

Lmao @LostCats that was last week! You should see him now 😂. I'd take a photo but he's off terrorising the dogs somewhere. I'm trying to keep them separate but he keeps escaping out of the internal window to get to them 🤦🏼‍♀️

@Toddlerteaplease he's definitely wired, that's the perfect word. He just tried to steal pizza out of hubby's hand

@maximist I've never had a male cat before so no idea what to expect. Apparently the vets loved him & he was really nice after he came to, very chill. Then he came home..

He just can't decide what he wants to do. He wants to be touched, then you touch him & he's like 'what the actual fuck?!' & moves just out of reach.

Wild-eyed boy, love it!!!
When are the meds supposed to wear off?

Pudmyboy · 08/04/2024 21:38

(love his subtle markings btw!)

Caerulea · 08/04/2024 21:47

@Pudmyboy no idea, the vets just said he might be sleepy & quiet when he gets home. Pffft. His markings are really lovely, he's like one of those lenticular pictures, he looks different from different angles. His fur goes very dark when wet too, so I can always tell when my stupidest dog has been putting him in his mouth.

😂😂

PickAChew · 08/04/2024 21:54

That face is like me trying to remember how to make my much needed coffee in the morning 😂

Gorgeous cat and brilliant thread title.
He does look rather fried.

LostCats · 08/04/2024 22:01

Hee hee hee he is rather fabulous!!

Overthinking22 · 08/04/2024 22:19

Aaww he does look buzzing. Just keep an eye on it and give the vet a call if still dilated after a few days.

Thank you, I wouldn't have considered that tbh 🙏

Two of mine were absolutely bonkers post op, literally pinging off the walls. I blame the drugs, next day they were "normal" again.

Caerulea · 09/04/2024 10:04

Wellbeing update. He looks far less 'weekend at helterskelter' & more 'had an energetic one night stand might get checked out later'.
