Girl kitten presenting herself to boy kitten!

Hi

i have girl / boy kittens that are 4.5 months old. They are booked in to be neutered next Wednesday (27th) but I’m now wondering if I need to try and bring this forward

last night and this morning I’ve noticed the girl squatting down and presenting herself to the boy. He then starts grooming her there. Is the a precursor to mating? Should I see if the vets have any slots to get them fixed early this week? Would be extremely inconvenient for work and the probably don’t have availability anyway!

thanks

@lifebeginsaftercoffee They don’t seem to be in any hurry to do it and I haven’t pushed as I’m probably a bit nervous about it myself. We got dcat1 when she was 2, unspayed. When we saw our vet he didn’t mention any concerns and booked her in to be done. When I took her on the day a different vet said she was only the size of a 5 month old kitten, had a slightly deformed jaw, may have a condition or genetic problem and could be at greater risk under anaesthetic. Having previously lost a dog under anaesthetic I panicked and took her home.

However, once I’d researched a bit more I realised surgery was in her best interests so she had the operation but developed a hernia when her inside stitches burst and had to have more surgery as a semi emergency. Fortunately she has completely recovered but it has left me a bit anxious about the whole thing. I actually said I wouldn’t take another cat that hadn’t been spayed but when I heard that dkitten needed a home and saw her wee face I couldn’t resist. We are at the vet in 10 days. I will ask about booking her in.

If she's presenting herself they may have already DTD. Seperate them now, and keep your windows shut as she may attract other suitors. My first cat got pregnant at 4.5 months (we got her and her kitten when she was 7 months from a rehoming charity).
