Why is wet food in jelly so messy?

But food in gravy isn't? Penelope gets it absolutely everywhere. She eats it off the floor/rug. But didn't do it with the gravy variety? Any ideas?

Could be because the jelly type sticks to itself, so sections of it come away in one lump and then the cat drags the lump away to eat separately. Gravy lets them pick out a mouthful at a time.

Mine have cat mats under their dishes for more or less this reason.

She has a Matt. She takes it off the mat.

I find the opposite is true! The jelly is fine, the stuff in gravy really messy- and difficult to get out of the pouch so tend to waste a lot.

There is still some mess though. I need to get some new cat mats.
