What kind of food?

We brought our kitten (13 weeks) home last weekend and she's settling in very well. The family we got her from had been feeding her a mix of pouches and dry food, and so far we have carried on with that. A couple of cat-experienced friends feed theirs only dry food, and I'm wondering whether that's a better route to go?

I understand I have to pay cat tax, I hope the below settles my account! Grin

Your kitten is gorgeous 😁.
Personally I wouldn't recommend a dry food only diet. Typically cats get much of their water requirement from their food and having too dry a diet can cause urinary problems down the line.

Agree with this. I've always been told wet over dry

I would never do a dry only diet unless the cat really wouldn't touch wet food for some reason.

Mine get dry food left down all the time and half a pouch of wet each twice a day.

I agree with this. Cat's need the liquid in wet food as they tend not to drink much and you don't want kidney problems in 10 years. They also don't need carbs which is what a lot of dry biscuits are largely made of. My cats get a mix and it's suited them, and their predecessors, well.

Your kitten looks just like my kitten!! Obviously very beautiful!
Only mine is now 18mths. We feed 1/2 tin of applaws morning and evening (which seem to be quite high meat content) & a bowl of dry biscuits down all the time. Seems really happy & growing well.

@TragicTess, our cats have the same blanket as well 😆

Thanks for the replies, glad they are all consistent - a mix seems to be the way to go so we'll continue to do that, thank you!
