Insurance - who with and what level of cover?

Next question from me - pet insurance!

Any recommendations of good providers - and ones to avoid!

I've had a look online and some seem to ask about max cover per year ranging between £4000 and £7000. How on earth do I choose?!

I don't think I had insurance when I had cats before so this is all new to me!

I'm with Pet Plan & have used it a couple of times with my fluffster. Never a problem with them paying my vet directly in each occasion

Tesco, really good. Ran up bills of £25k with my previous two. All paid promptly with no fuss.

Get the top level cover. My late goes had episodes that cost £5000 each

we've got the top tier of Tesco cover for our two. I think the annual claim limit is £7500 per cat. Our previous cat had to go to an out of hours pet hospital after an accident, and that was eye-wateringly expensive. Tesco have been very quick and fuss free to pay out. I would also add that none of the vets local to me will deal directly with insurers, so if possible it's worth making sure you have space on a credit card to cover the (very short) period while you wait for payment.

I just got one with PetPlan for my rescue cat. I got the maximum cover available on the lifetime plan. Covers dental as well.

The cat rescue centre had given me a PetPlan voucher to get an initial 4 week free insurance with them.

I kept things simple and then got a full cover with Petplan (as they already had the cat details from the initial 4 week free cover) as well. Petplan also added another month free when I did that.

Some people have also recommended Tesco as being a good insurer to deal with.

7.5k per year lifetime cover with Tesco - basically, get the best you can afford.

Vet bills get very expensive, very quick yes

Asda plan is good. 10,000 is top tier
Have had it for a couple of years now
