......... Silent Night.........

Well, maybe not so silent when there's a cat about who wants to be fed.

Join us in the run up to Christmas 2023!

@TheShellBeach thanks, there are various places to get them online, I know - I had hoped to get a pair yesterday in case they told me she can come home today.

I lashed out and did some sewing instead - put a wide elastic band into one of her current pairs.

Vixen thinks it's been a while since I put a photo up of her. We were curled up watching Christmas slasher films. I think she may have not enjoyed the last one.

Vixen: why has that man murdered multiple women and put on their skin? NO taste.

Benny: why has everyone started admiring this tree and not meeee?

Lovely cats in great pictures both. Here in Chateau Velvet we’ve had an uneven day, after a lot of sideways rolling very quickly around the kitchen she’s been quite standoffish and as the weather’s still bad I fed and shut her in slightly earlier than normal. Then returned to her rooms to a smell that suggested she’s weed somewhere she shouldn’t have. Absolutely dreading my mother’s reaction because a tree could fall down outside and it’d be my fault and I’ve just been in charge for three days. Velvet and I are friends again though, so there are some compensations.

TheShellBeach · 10/12/2023 23:16

@coastergirl I absolutely LOVE that picture of Benny.

Benny looks adorable there! Of course the tree is just his backdrop.

All quiet here, I just got back from a run to the pharmacy (amusingly I had a call from the hospital pharmacy while I was there) and am having a cup of tea. Daisy meanwhile has been trying out the new table as somewhere to watch Phoebe, before hopping into Mum's chair for a snooze.

I just stepped out for a couple of minutes and came back to this. I don't know which excellent brat cat was responsible!

They can wreak havoc with no warning, can’t they!

Catsmere · 11/12/2023 05:11

It's one of their top skills! 😄

Just had to comment that this picture could be a Christmas card! ❤️

That's a spectacular dirty look - worthy of TC (or Sybil) 😾

Definitely RainbowZebraWarrior!

Linney's look of outrage is very funny. How is your son finding his new flat Shell?

Have I said how lovely your new chairs are Catsmere? No wonder Phoebe and Daisy approve!

DS2 is doing very well indeed. He's really happy.

Linney is still outside, ignoring me.

That is the personification - catification? Of the sentiment HMPH.

I’m not very well right now and Velvet has been popping in and out, mostly for a quick miaow chat. I’ve tried to play, given her food etc so I don’t know what she wants other than to check that her big sick kitten is OK through the medium of miaowing - very plaintively but I think she just sounds like that - between bouts of sprinting about the garden and trying to climb trees (sadly no footage, but she tried to climb the underside of a branch which she could easily have leapt to the top of and ended up hanging off it comically the other day, I spotted her planning a second attempt and thinking better of it today). I was however browsing the Poke earlier and came across a short clip of Cilla Black. The look Velvet gave me when I played it was essentially if you do that again, do not expect any furry friendship. Oops…

I would pass over the world’s tiniest violin but Velvet’s sitting on it.

Thank you @nettie434 !

I suspect Daisy will be a bit miffed when Mum gets home, she won’t be able to use her chair much then and will probably revert to demanding I spend the day on the bed with her.

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 12/12/2023 03:13

I know it’s three in the morning but just wanted to post a little paean to Velvet, even if she has recently pooped on the floor and slightly fallen out of a tree by accident.
She is just lovely. I appreciate the little glints in her Bengal fur, the way she comes to check on me very importantly (“are you alive? Good, we can keep conquering the world, talk amongst yourself”) and her sheer clumsiness by cat standards (falling down the stairs happens daily). She isn’t the world’s cuddliest - I’ve counted her front paws resting on my feet as a huge step - but she is so loving and adorable - she’s young and athletic enough to stand on her hind legs to get fusses or even to bring them to her. I just want to protect her, and I’m worried all the time when she’s out of the house. My mother has also made some worrying remarks about removing her from the house (which would take me from my boyfriend and two best friends if I went too). I know this is mumsnet and we’re supposed to have human children but even my allergic and autistic boyfriend loves her and I don’t think I’ve ever felt as protective and invested as this.

Catsmere · 12/12/2023 03:45

Where's a "love" button when we need one?

twobluechickens · 12/12/2023 07:57

Munchkin has changed her loo habits so now, instead of dispatching the foetid turds of an evening, I am woken at 6am by an appalling stench assailing my nostrils. I mean, it gets me up and about for the day, but it’s not the most peaceful start to the morning. <pinches nose>

Catsmere · 12/12/2023 09:50

Makes me very grateful that Phoebe's poos hardly smell at all and Daisy's are really only noticeable when I'm scooping them! Given how small my bedroom and bathroom (where their tray is) are, that's a blessing.

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 12/12/2023 09:54

Velvet’s have actually made me throw up twice. I’m still grateful for her, she’s a huge blessing, but the sooner she can transfer to being outdoors the better. I’m in charge of the tray as well.

Catsmere · 12/12/2023 10:02

Whoa, that's powerful! I only react like that to human waste.
