Alternative to Katkin? (They use shitebags DPD!)

Hello

DPD have lost £70 worth of fresh cat food sent by Katkin.

Katkin say they will replace the box but I don't hold out high hopes of it ever actually arriving. (Also I'm unimpressed at the no compensation for my wandering around in the cold and dark looking for it and having to go to the supermarket as I don't have enough fresh food to last the weekend).

DPD seems to be a black hole in this neck of the woods and it's the only courier that Katkin use.

So looks like I will have to part company with KatKin.

Real shame, as my elderly cat with hyperthyroidism really likes the food.

What is most similar please so I can perhaps transition her to it?

Thanks

Oh and I have also been using their litter - the health indicating one. Is there an alternative supplier I can use for something similar?

Thanks

I changed from Katkin to Untamed which I'm finding to be better quality. I can't remember who couriers it though, sorry.

Clarich007 · 01/12/2023 19:46

Untamed is good, and is in small tins so no plastic packaging, and all recyclable.

LookMaggie · 01/12/2023 19:56

Thanks.

Is Untamed fresh though? Even though it's in tins?

I think the fact that Katkin has to be stored in the fridge/freezer is what I found reassuring about it.

Is there a way to get a good quality product from an actual shop? Like Pets at Home or something?

I'm soooo fed up of these shite courier companies but I don't want to feed my cat crappy food.

You can get blink from pets at home.

LookMaggie · 01/12/2023 20:15

@Laurama91 thanks! That's the news I want to hear! Doof! I will be cancelling KatKin. My cat's had Blink before and was fine with it.

Another big fan of untamed, it's great quality (I love that the full on fishy has big visible chunks of actual fish in it) and my extra fussy cats who suffer with food allergies love it.

They deliver using Royal Mail

I second the comments about Untamed. The one with the prawn on top is a firm favourite here!

We get it delivered. I think with evri. Which I know can be hit and miss but never had issue with our person.

Thanks, there's a Pets at Home v close to me so I may just do it the old fashioned way and go into a shop.

I fear my blood pressure cannot handle any more courier nonsense!

Have also had problems with Katkin/Dpd. They repeatedly just dump on the doorstep without knocking- not great on a sunny day at the end of the day when it has already been out of the freezer all day.
On a separate issue- op, are you buying the trays? If so , what does your cat make of them? We are still buying the pouches but I have got a horrible feeling they are going to discontinue them...

LookMaggie · 01/12/2023 22:41

@LessOfMe99 my cat has only ever had the trays as we only started using KatKin this year after they were introduced. My cat really likes the food - all the flavours. She isn't particularly fussy though I don't think, she's always been a greedy gannet and her recent hyperthyroidism is making her even more so! (at least until the medication starts controlling it more)

I've just given her a tin of untamed of a few I still had in the cupboard. I will see if she still likes that (we know how fickle cats can be) and if she eats all of it. She certainly eats all the KatKin.

How does Untamed compare cost wise? I don't think I can persuade OH to 'upgrade' the cats' food again, but I would love to have half my freezer back.

Our cats love Katkin, I wish they'd sort their packaging out though!
