Calling all cats and their overworked slaves - join us as we grudgingly accept that every day is National Cat Day as far as our moggies are concerned.

Shell, that other thread you were just on, I was reading it thinking how weird it was, then pouf, it vanished. So bloody annoying when you and others invested time in trying to help. Good for you though. Bloody trolls.

TheShellBeach · 05/11/2023 23:55

Papergirl, do you mean the weird one about the inability to make a GP appt?

I was just beginning to think it was a troll when it was deleted.

@TheShellBeach Thanks for answering my yucky question. As you did not mention the next meal, I wondered if cats had some means of vomiting hairballs separately. I couldn't see how, but you never know with cats.

I imagine Linney's way would be what cats would choose, as it makes the most mess.

@RumNotRun To me, I think your DS has encountered a Mexican Bandit cat, with 2 loaded pistols slung at his/her hips in a holster. But I am in a silly mood atm.

Maple enjoying her new radiator bed. Love this thread. I have 5 cats!

And my 3 legged boy looking rather regal.

So was I! Didn't comment, but my alarm bells had started ringing and just as I went to the last page, it was gone.

I envy you, I had five cats back in the day! Only two now, though, I haven't the space or $$$ for more.

Maple looks soooo comfy there.

Yes, the “boy” who couldn’t make a GP appointment or go out of the house in the rain! I was about to answer, being a GP receptionist, but my spidery senses were tingling. I just don’t know what those idiots get out of it.
On a happier note, some darling new cats on here. 😻

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 06/11/2023 09:47

I love the three-legged furry friend, his demeanour reminds me of that famous Louis XIIII picture.

This morning Velvet has decided to sleep on my bed! Feeling very privileged as this is the first time as far as we know in her life that she has done this. I do have a VERY soft dressing gown and we practised hunting with the cord (she’s still hopeless, but she’s trying, bless her) before settling down. She’s a bit sniffly but I’m letting her have a good nap before I wipe her nose and eyes.

Oh look at Velvet! She does look a lot like her name!!

Actually, that reminds me to ask - Boone has a bit of what appears to be conjunctivitis. Do others cats get this? I don’t remember the last time he had it?
But given I’ve been very unwell since I got bastard Covid in January 2020, I’m not so good on the noticing things anymore 😆

nettie434 · 06/11/2023 10:51

When my friends' cat got cat flu (just before his vaccination), he got conjunctivitis too (obviously there was no iris like on humans but you could see red in his eyes. The vet prescribed him eye drops which were very effective except that it was a two person job to restrain him and then put the drops in.

Hope Boone gets better soon!

LostCats · 06/11/2023 11:23

Ooh! I hadn’t thought of eye drop application 😳😳😳
thank you!! I’ll speak to the vet

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 06/11/2023 12:41

@LostCats Velvet feels like her name too, she has the softest fur! Up to mischief all the time as well.

Re conjunctivitis, a bit of black discharge is totally normal (it’s tears plus dust or other fine dirt) and can be removed with a damp tissue or cloth. Swollen eyes or any discharge which is white or yellow or looks like WAY more tears than the cat should produce is probably worth a vet’s visit.

Oh my! I’d be very pleased with that delivery!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 06/11/2023 19:08

No idea why Sybil is regarded as sensitive content 🤣.

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 06/11/2023 19:30

She’s obviously just a sensitive little soul :)

SequentialAnalyst · 06/11/2023 19:35

Doesn't the poster choose if it's sensitive or not?
Either way, clicking on it is like opening the box myself to find Sybil inside, and has made me very happySmile

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 06/11/2023 19:38

We are at risk of a riot tonight. Sybil is getting bloods done tomorrow morning and can't eat after 21.30 tonight. This means food removed for everyone at that point. 🙀🙀🙀
If I never post again...

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 06/11/2023 19:56

… Sybil will not have had a fasting blood test

LightDrizzle · 06/11/2023 21:41

I’ve wandered onto here and got sucked in by the irresistible photos but I’m nonplussed by the photos of cats in cat beds. We had cats growing up and I’ve had three in adulthood and all prided themselves in spurning every cat bed we ever bought for them, including a sheepskin radiator bed.
Suitcases, cardboard boxes, computer keyboards and human furniture were all preferable.

Have cats gone soft since I lost my last?

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 06/11/2023 21:51

I wouldn’t say being soft! Velvet slept on my bed for the first time today and as she’s one week out of a cat shelter I saw that as her being a brave girl. She’s walked across our laps but not onto them yet and she’s explored boxes without wanting to stay in them. The cat bed is too big for her (bought for a cat twice her size) and has her blanket from the shelter lining it, so I think she feels safest there. Our previous cat (the aforementioned 7kg monster) lost a lot of weight towards the end and I expect floors, boxes or laps felt achy for his exposed bones by then.

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 06/11/2023 21:52

I should add - here’s Velvet snuggled in my dressing-gown this morning!
