Older cat, diabetic, eating very little

Pussycat is 16, had feline diabetes a few years ago, recovered (i.e. diabetes in remission), and then, this summer, a return of the diabetes.

The vet did a full work-up (cost a fortune), and she is generally in good condition, but she has lost about 30% of her body weight.

We restarted the insulin injections, which she is tolerating well, and she is drinking less, and eating a bit more.

But, she dozes in "her corner" 24 hours a day, emerging only to drink and have a little lick of her food. She is not regaining her appetite very much. I carry her into the litchen twice a day for her insulin injection, but she heards straight beck to the corner.

So, is this "it", a steady decline? She's been on insulin for about 10 days now; will she ever regain some vitality?

Any thoughts?
