In my case it’s because i am the only one who knows exactly which noises mean my boy wants to be picked up and cuddled like a baby. I also am the only one who’s chest he will sleep on too.

No choice in my house - it's me or nothing 😆

On a very few rare occasions (e.g. hospital stays) DSis has come in to feed them, but you're talking about maybe a night or once or twice a year max.

We have a division of labour for the 4 furry demons. I am firm but fair and the two oldest appreciate this and seek out my lap. The newest allows me most liberties with his tummy but he, and the naughtiest boy prefer DP's lap.

Having said that, the naughtiest boy will only have fun with his wanky blanket when I have it over my legs 😳

(sorry to lower the tone)

I am the only one who will blend his food up with a hand blender and then fish through it with my bare hands to get any remaining lumps out. (In case you hadn't guessed, he won't eat lumps - not sure why but he has been poorly recently and lost weight so needs must!).

I am the only one who will get out of bed early to feed him. I am the only one who he will sleep on top of all night.

I am the only one who he will let pick him up and hold him like a child (not like a baby - he doesn't like that). He will let my daughter pick him up but only in a kind of upright "perch".

Me or nothing here as well!

^^ love this.

I'm the most popular as I know which games they each like and play them.

I am the giver of dreamies Grin

LateSummerLobelia · 21/08/2023 16:53

I always say 'I do NOT cater to the cats'. And I waggle my finger at DH who gives them dreamies on tap.

DH points out that i am the only one who poaches chicken and prawns for them.

I also make them scrambled eggs. One likes it with cream and one with semi skimmed milk. I oblige.

I am also the one who slept on the couch with our previous poorly DCat and was holding her paw in my sleep when she passed away.

mondaytosunday · 21/08/2023 16:55

While I'm there mother, my daughter is their cuddle buddy. They pibe fue me when I'm not there, but she's the one they will go up to when we are both sitting on the sofa.
I feed them and am around most if the time - she is at school all day.
My dogs are the same.

mondaytosunday · 21/08/2023 16:55

Their - shocking!

NeverDropYourMooncup · 21/08/2023 16:56

I am by far the better conversationalist, so they don't need to shout at me like a British tourist to a French waiter quite as much as they do at DP - I understand more of their requirements, complaints and queries when they are first conveyed through the medium of body language.

Yes, I can respond effectiely in a combination of sign, expression and sound, rather than expect them to attempt the Idiot Human tongue with the Idiot humans. After all, we're living in their house, so the least we could do is learn the language of the Imperial House of Fluff.

reddotorangedot · 21/08/2023 16:57

I'm the one who will put new food down even though she's got food left. I give fridge treats. I'll let her sit on me till my leg goes dead

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 21/08/2023 17:23

It's me or nothing here too now but when dh was alive he was not willing to sit still for hours with asbo cat on his lap or serve second breakfast upstairs and he also used to tell asbo off for being naughty.

I'm also the one who gets up early to feed them.

CurlewKate · 21/08/2023 17:45

Dp is because he can't chop anything without scattering the floor with snippets of deliciousness. He seems to be able to manage perfectly well if it's salad or vegetables though.....

Onegreenbean · 21/08/2023 17:49

I mix exactly 4 tablespoons of water with his food to make a satisfactory gravy - any more or less and he won't touch it. I also drive out of my way to an out of town pet shop to stock up on the only food he likes.

I have also lost the bed battle. The bed is now 1/3 cat, 1/3 husband, 1/3 me.

whirlyhead · 24/08/2023 21:21

Sadly, I am not the preferred cat slave in
my house. My partner only has to
sit down for our entire pack to descend on him like vultures on a corpse.

sometimes I cannot see him for cats. I suspect cat nip runs in his veins rather than blood.

(he also feeds them at 5 am) (and would kill for them)

TrobadoraBeatrice · 24/08/2023 21:27

I'm the one who can be woken at any time of night and I'll get up to put food in the bowl (even if there was already some food in there). I'm also the one whom the furry one occasionally deigns to sleep next to during the night when he thinks I won't notice. DP on the other hand is the one the cat shouts at when he wants to be brushed (the most acceptable form of stroking).
