Two kittens - best way to deal with litter tray

We’ve just adopted two kittens, they are 11 weeks and will be indoor only for at least six months. They’re wonderful and we love them to bits 😁

We have two litter trays and we are currently scooping poop into small bags and then putting it into the main bin bag. Unfortunately it’s attracting flies and despite double and triple bagging it, the smell is still noticeable. I just wondered how others deal with cat poo, am I doing it right or is there is a different system I can use?

Weirdly have never had this and at one stage we had three kittens and a cat! Could you try scented bags? The smell is noticeable outside you mean?

I think more people will be able to help if you pay the cat tax - kitten photos, please!

Are you using actual poo bags?

Mine go into a small lidded bin outside then get tipped into the main bin for bin day. Stops the risk of bags splitting under other rubbish. Barely any smell and never had flies.

Changing the kittens' food might reduce the smell too.

I flush their poo down the toilet.

Are you using proper poo bags?

We have three cats (soon to be four) and all the dirty litter goes into dog poo bags and into the kitchen bin which gets emptied into the black bin when full. We've never had an issue with bad smells or flies.
