My darling girl is having an eye removed today

She had lots of teeth out a couple of weeks ago, and about a week after her left eye started swelling. She's been on lots of antibiotics and drops but it's still really bad.

She saw the vet opthalmologist today, and he has to remove it. I'm so devastated for her - she's only 4.

Also I'm not there - my DH and DD are but she's a total mummy's girl.

Thank you so much for asking @FlatArthur - she is doing really well.

She had her checkup with the opthalmologist yesterday and he was very pleased with how well she is healing. All the swabs he sent off came back negative for anything nasty, and apart from another week of antibiotics she is all done.

It will take a while to get used to how she looks - she has/had really beautiful bright blue eyes, but she is running around and climbing and cuddling her babies 😻

I'm glad to hear she's feeling better. All three of your cats are gorgeous.

FlatArthur · 29/06/2023 19:23

😻That’s great news!

Hi, OP - I'm late to the thread, but I'm mum to a one-eyed wonder. His was removed when he was rescued from the streets at 6 months old. He's adapted brilliantly, it doesn't trouble him at all.

Here he is:

@FlatArthur @Florissante Oh yes, he definitely is! And a good job too, because he is also an absolutely terror of a creatures. But I (and we all) love him to bits.

@LilacpointMummy How is she getting on today?

HunterHearstHelmsley · 10/07/2023 13:08

I have a one eyed girl too. She hated me for about a week after she'd had it removed like... you did this to me! Other than that, she was amazing. Cats are so adaptable.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 10/07/2023 13:10

My girl had beautiful eyes before too. She does look different, she's still beautiful. Just in a different way.

Thank you for asking - she's great. It's healed well and she has gained loads of weight.

@LilacpointMummy That is wonderful news! Putting on weight it such a good sign, and she is still (of course!) absolutely gorgeous!

prettybird · 10/07/2023 13:15

She's still beautiful. Smile
