Mine has access to the outdoors but she won’t go out.

She is desperate for attention but if you try to stroke her she runs away.

If you touch her she miaows as if to tell you to fuck off.

If you look at her she miaows as if to tell you to fuck off.

She adores the kids and wants to be next to them all the time.

She has a little saggy belly because she is lazy.

I love her so much ❤️

The saggy belly is a primordial pouch, it’s an evolution thing.

That may be so.

But she is definitely lazy. She would rather be sat on than move out the way

Mine is a needy little prick. Adorable though!

SonnySideDown · 26/04/2023 22:36

Mine despises me.

UnicornsForLife · 26/04/2023 22:42

How old is she? My girl is mellowing and asks for fuss. She sits on laps and purrs. Not for long but it's progress... Shes 6 years oldish.

FridayNeverHesitate · 26/04/2023 23:00

I have a British Shorthair. She's the exact opposite of how they're supposed to be!

She loves being outside (as long as it's not wet) and is an enthusiastic mouser.

She is affectionate to me and DH, but merely tolerates the DC.

She makes a beeline for my lap as soon as I sit down.

I like that she turned out different to how we expected, and I do love her a lot. That said, it'll be a moggy next time.

whatanicedress · 26/04/2023 23:05

Mine is a young male, 2 years old.

Indoor cat - has no interest in the outdoors except for yelling at birds through the window.

Enormously affectionate - loves to be in the same room as his humans, very keen on having his ears rubbed. Very keen to be in someone's lap.

He is also (of course) an absolute prick but that goes with the territory.

eurochick · 26/04/2023 23:43

Mine is like yours OP - checks every point apart from wanting to be near children. I think they are mellowing at nearly 4 but they are not as affectionate as I expected them to be!

fozwomble · 27/04/2023 00:01

I've got two. She is very independent, wants to be out (meeting boys) a lot. She's a good hunter, super smart and leads the way with everything. She tolerated my dc a lot sooner than her brother did and will come for a snuggle but only in certain spots of the house.

Her brother is enormous, ginger and a bit gormless. Has taken almost two years to stay in the same room as DC but is enormously affectionate with me and is my shadow. He's much more of a homebody. But I suspect that's more because he's always on the scrounge for a treat!

She’s 2. Will be interesting to see if she mellows!

We also have a moggy, actually a farm cat. And he waits for me to sit down then sits on my lap and starts licking me like a dog.

When we got them (at roughly the same time) I had visions of how they would be.

They have turned out completely different! 😂

I have a British longhair rather than a shorthair…….though my daughter who went to pick her up swears her mum was a shorthair! 🤷‍♀️. She’s tica registered so proper pedigree. Not that I’m bothered as I’m not planning on showing her.

she is sort of friendly but likes to watch everything from a distance. So currently me, my dog and Birman cat are all in bed. No idea where floof cat is, doing her own thing downstairs while my Birman is like my shadow. If I pick floof up she tolerates it for about ten seconds and then squirms and wriggles. I think she likes dh better as she will come and sit on him when he’s in bed or on the sofa but looks a bit suspiciously at me all the time. Maybe Because I keep brushing her which she doesn’t like! 😀

Meant to add a photo.

Adopted two months ago, 7 very cuddly with me, very shy and hides with visitors, just mastered cat flap, which is great.
love him to bits, and he knows it 🐱❤️

notagainbertie · 27/04/2023 07:59

Mine is two now, he's extremely affectionate and loves a cuddle. He insists on being next to me while I work either on my desk or knee. He purrs a lot and loves to pin us down and lick us 😂
My daughter has a female who is four now and she has got more affectionate over the last twelve months, but she's not as tolerant as Bertie.

I absolutely adore him and he has us slaves very well trained!

Mine is similar. She comes to me for a fuss but when I touch her she gives me a fuck off look.

She saves all her affection for first thing in the morning when she hops into bed and starts nuzzling me and screeching in my ear. If I don't respond she stands on my hair until I stroke her.

She ignores DH most of the time (I'm her favourite) but during the day sleeps on his pillow or his dirty clothes. She finds his smell comforting I guess.

She's incredibly nosy and follows tradesmen around the house. They're allowed and encouraged to touch her. I'm ignored until they leave. It's the same when friends come round.

She likes to play with cat toys that are things dangling on sticks. After a few minutes she walks away to the corner of the room and then wants me to keep playing by myself while she watches.

She's a terrible hunter but occasionally catches a butterfly if I'm not there to tell her to stop. When she brings her catch in she howls like she's in pain until I come running and see what she's caught. She once brought in a bird to show off but didn't realise I'd seen her pick up the already dead bird from the garden.

😂 this all sounds so familiar!

Mine also follows visitors around the house. Luckily most have been thrilled by her (or are good actors).

A few times I‘ve heard her miaowing as if her tail would be on fire. I come running and she‘ll have one of the kids toys in her mouth!

Bernard is as lazy as a toad. Only really sits on me - will sit on DH if desperate, it otherwise likes to sit next to people rather than on them. Greedy devil and cries when any meat of fish is being cooked. Added a rare shot of him rolling over for a nice tummy tickle!

This makes me wonder if our (rescue) mog has some British Shorthair in her. She's aloof but mellowing (she's 6 now and we've had her since a kitten), she'll sit on DH (but not me) but often wants to be in the same room as me and will sit and stare. No interest in going outside (once got frightened by a pigeon), will beep at us for a fuss and then tolerate it for a few seconds before stalking off.

learieonthewildmoor · 28/04/2023 17:43

Everyone who posted here and did not include a photo of their cat should be very very ashamed.
OP, you should have a content warning placed in the title.
I don’t have a British Shorthair, but am posting a photo of Cat Two being adorable for the people who open this thread expecting to see at least a dozen cats.

Mine sleeps on my head. He occasionally bites my hair to groom me. He drools when I stroke him.
