On a mission to find something my cat will eat

My cat is on hunger strike (again!) He only has a small list of requirements:

  1. Nothing brown
  2. Nothing cheap
  3. Nothing in gravy
  4. Nothing previously liked
  5. Only fish flavours acceptable
  6. No human food

Please tell me other cats are as fussy!

Harry would only eat the tuna version of that before he died. I couldn't believe the price! New cat Eddie will not be having Canagan!

OP I have nothing to offer but my sympathy!

I think I was feeling rich when we started.

Of course now I'm very much not feeling rich and am stuck with it.

Saving grace is they need very little a day.

Yep. Parky cats will only eat Royal Canin dry (only certain types though) but despise their wet ood; will only eat some sheba or purina gourmet whatsit wet food but not the salmon and only grudgingly eat the lamb; the boy likes cheese dreamies and yoghurt lix but not webbox sticks and the girl can't have anything remotely dairy. They're both partial to real tuna and real chicken and the boy likes snippets of meringue and pizza. Every month we end up with a bag of food sachets we need to put in the pet food bank at the vet. I have literally tried them on every food at some time or other.

Boy cat has always been pampered since he came to us as a kitten. Girl was feral once. And in the early days, Sheba was a treat....

Untamed? They do some fishy flavours and you can get a trial box.

I’m rather glad it’s not just our Prince. He is SO fussy. But this is our fault because we do not give him the food he likes. He has been given hideously expensive raw food since weaned but recently gone off it. This is our fault, we should have known he was bored of it. Suffers Royal Canin (dry and wet) to avoid starvation. He WILL NOT EAT any supermarket cat foods, not even the most expensive of them. We add them to our growing stock of Food The Prince Has Rejected. But this is also our fault for trying to introduce variety, we should know by now he won’t eat them. Likes tuna. Likes cooked eggs, sort of. As a treat.

Some of these suggestions sound promising, thank you.
