Cat might have eaten double flea treatment pills - emergency?

As the title says we’ve swapped our cats onto flea treatment pills rather than the liquid you put on the back of their neck.

2 cats wolfed theirs down this morning, one was reluctant and ate round it. I gave it back to reluctant cat this evening. He’s a grazer so I was standing watching for when he left his bowl to scoop it up before one of the other greedy cats got a look in.
unfortunately greedy cat made a dart for it, pushed reluctant cat out the way and seemed to get something out the bowl in the time it took me to grab him. I opened his mouth and nothing was there but I could have sworn he got something. The bowl was empty so if there was anything left it would have been the flea pill.

So it’s possible that greedy cat has eaten 2. How bad is this? He’s a big cat (6.5 kg last weighing) and the same strength pills have been given to him and reluctant cat (who is a lot lighter) so I’m hoping a higher dose might be ok.

Of course the vets is closed, there’s an emergency service in a nearby city but you can’t get advice over the phone as they call the vet in and of course the dc are now in bed so I’d rather not take him anywhere if it’s not urgent.

The pills are Credelio and the only info regarding overdose I can see is that ‘no adverse reactions were observed following oral administration to kittens, aged eight weeks and weighing 0.5 kg, treated with overdoses of more than five times the maximum recommended dose rate on eight occasions at monthly intervals.’
So I guess double dose isn’t expected to have adverse reactions. Unless anyone happens to know any more?

Greedy cat is glowering at me now of course for launching myself at him!

Just keep an eye on him. He will be fine, you have to give quite a lot to overdose.

Thanks. I thought so, just good to be reassured. He seems fine. Still trying to eat everything he can get hold of so nothing new there!
