What happened to all the tinned cat food? will it be back?

I haven't seen tinned whiskas for ages. Yes I know - McDonalds quality crap yadda yadda - but my girls enjoyed a couple of spoons each morning to supplement their dried food. Is this a localised problem? will it be back? I know I can get the pouches but cans were far more cost effective, plus easier to recycle.

I usually see tins in morrisons or asda
Have you tried pets at home too?

Mutabiliss · 14/03/2023 21:40

I can't get pouches - one of my cats is allergic to everything except M&S cat food (I KNOW) and they haven't had the pouches in weeks. Thankfully he can have the trays too, but they're more annoying to deal with.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 14/03/2023 21:41

Our Pets at Home hasn't had any the last few times I've been in, ditto Sainsburys and Tesco. Maybe it's just here??? I shall have a drive out to Morrisons

They do exist, they're out there I've seen them with my own eyes.... Sainsbury's I think? Not sure if it was Whiskas though.

Do you have a Wilko store nearby? They apparently offer click and collect to store

dementedpixie · 14/03/2023 21:44

Zooplus sells it online

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 14/03/2023 21:51

Ah, I should have specified - it was the Meaty in Gravy variety in particular. I can see a few online stores have the jelly ones (although for some reason I couldn't even get the jelly ones locally). I will definitely go on a proper hunt this weekend though if others are spotting it in the wild. Failing that, they'll have to make do with jelly Smile

You can recycle the pouches now, with soft plastics, at Tesco (possibly other places too but that’s the one I know about)

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 14/03/2023 22:06

thank you - looks like cans in gravy are no more.
so it's either they learn to love jelly, or I fork out the extra for the pouches. I wonder what will happen Grin.

My pets at home do the recycling too, I save everything up now like chew packets and big sacks of food.

You know it's going to be pouches 😁

Honeyroar · 14/03/2023 22:51

I’ve not even been able to find pouches of whiskers in gravy, they all seem to be jelly (mine much prefer gravy too).

Sunshineandrainbow · 14/03/2023 22:57

If you have a wilko near you, you can check local stock online.
