Cat passable baby gates

So we have 2 cats and a soon-to-be-crawler. One cat is a climber & can jump high. The other is large and can't jump well at all, so he won't be able to jump over a standard baby gate, especially on the stairs. The one who can't jump is also not smart and can't open doors himself, so we will need something super simple to work.

They will need access upstairs and downstairs for food & and their litter trays (may house configuration doesn't allow this to change) so I need to find baby gates to keep my child safe & my cats fed & toileted.

If anyone can recommend tried and tested gates, please share links with me! Many thanks & here's my cat tax Grin

We put carpet on our stair gates. 3 storey townhouse so litter trays and food on ground floor and lounge on 1st floor and bedrooms on 2nd floor. Cats could jump/climb/scrabble over but toddler couldn't escape. Not very pretty but needs must.

At least some of the stairgates with cat flaps have not been safety tested with babies/children so do read the small print before ordering.

Do you already own a baby gate? We already had one from when our now 9yo was a toddler, and just today I've cut off one of the bars so our growing kitten can pass through comfortably (yesterday I noticed he's grown so large he really had to squeeze through the bars!). It only took about 10 minutes with a hacksaw. A full grown cat could now fit through.

Kitten trying out the new gap (you can see the hole where the bar was):

I had one of these. Appreciate it’s a dog gate, rather than baby gate.

We took a bar out of our stairs gate and put a bit of cardboard above the gap to create a cat pop hole
Works really well for our old blind cat
Keeps the dog away from his food

THANK YOU I've got an old blind cat and as lovely as these replies are to look through we haven't all got agile seeing furbabies 🤣 you've literally kept my cat in comfort on our bed at night!!
