How soon to get a new kitten after a loss

We very sadly lost our much adored cat aged 14 in early November. I was devastated as she was our first cat and we got her as a kitten. We had another cat most of her life too who died a few years ago. I feel like I'm ready for a new kitten, well 2 actually. I've seen 2 at the shelter we got ours from.

But I'm now questioning myself and wondering if its too soon. How can I tell? Any advice? I feel like waiting isn't bringing my cat back. But I do feel a bit like I'm doing something wrong.

I'm probably being silly but I'd love to hear what others did.

I waited 3 years after Troy died. My hand was shaking filling in the form at a Cat's Protection open day unsure if I was doing the right thing.

I think you seem ready

It took longer for me but I got another rescue as soon as I could look at them online without crying

She slotted right in and although looks similar to my lost fur baby - she's a totally different character

Good luck and let's see pic 🤗
