At a recent vet visit, the vet pointed out a bit of tartar build up on 7yo cat's teeth. Nothing too bad now but obvs don't want it to get any worse. Vet recommended feeding dry food. (I currently feed mainly wet with a bit of Thrive dry food thrown in. )
I'm reluctant to feed dry only as he's so prone to weight gain and also prefer him to have a high meat diet. Also the thrive kibble is so small he just swallows it whole so I don't think it's helping with teeth at all.
Vet recommended hills dental plan as part of a mixed wet/dry diet. apparently it's a bigger kibble so they have to chew. I have my reservations about this though as ingredient list doesn't look great.
Can anyone recommend a good quality dental health dry food, preferably grain free?
Any other experience of dealing with dental issues in cats would be great.
Thanks!
