Worried about taking my boy to the vets and him not coming home.

My cat will be 16 next month, I had to take him to the vets in September 2021 as he'd been fighting so had a nasty cut on his ear.

Vet says that he has a heart murmur & was wanting to start investigations, I said no as he's always been very rapid with his breathing from a young age and that with his age now and the stress for him of actually getting him to the vets was awful, so I'd rather him live out the rest of his life without any further procedures.

He's started coughing every so often, no furball present and I just know that taking him to the vets will more than likely mean he won't be coming home 😞 He has does feel a lot skinnier but is still eating, drinking, going to the toilet as normal and seems happy enough.

I don't know why I'm posting as I know what I need to do, but it just doesn't make it any easier 😥

It might not be the end for your boy.

My last cat had to have a couple of teeth out in September, and I was worried because he had a heart murmur. He was 19. He came through the general anesthetic and procedure absolutely fine - only to be hit by a car and killed in October Sad

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that WhatDoYouWantNow 😞

How long did your cat have a heart murmur for? Did you have him on any medication?

He's currently sat next to my DD, looking as pleased as punch with himself, I just dread the whole vet visit as it must have took me about 30 mins to get him in his carrier last time with multiple scratches 😱
