I have a 3 month old kitten that may or may not have eaten a bit of mince pie. Should I get in a taxi?

She’s tiny. We’ve all had an evening meal with wine, so driving it out. She might have had a tiny bit of a raisin, she might not - she had her nose in a basically empty plate of mince pie. Do I need to get in a taxi? I’m scared stiff. She’s asleep and purring on the sofa half an hour in.

nol leave until the kitten starts to show symptoms

Ring your vet and see what they suggest.

Vets now have a service where you can have a video call with the vet for £25. Refunded if you have to be seen in person within 24 hours. I used it with my cat, who miraculously perked up during the call.

Thank you for your replies. I don’t think she could have eaten more than one raisin, and that’s unlikely, the plate was all but empty but she’s very small. She’s snoozing but very responsive if she’s stroked.

Sorry to change course of the thread but I've never heard of this... is this a particular vet chain?

Hope your cat is ok OP

Goldfishbowled · 26/12/2022 22:45

Have you got insurance? A lot of them include a free video call with a vet, I’ve used them and the calls are usually available in the next hour or so.

If you don’t have it then you should get it.

thelobsterquadrille · 26/12/2022 22:46

@cantforthelifeofme it's normally offered via your insurance company.

We're with Tesco and have access to 24/7
vet support via phone or Zoom.

cantforthelifeofme · 26/12/2022 22:48

Ah thank you @thelobsterquadrille

Toddlerteaplease · 27/12/2022 06:15

@cantforthelifeofme Vets now is one of the OOH vet companies. I would imagine that others do similar.

JingsMahBucket · 27/12/2022 07:11

She sounds fine @lightgreen. You need to pay the kitten tax and post a picture so we can make sure she’s okay :)

Toddlerteaplease · 27/12/2022 08:49

Yes. We can't possibly judge if she's ok without a photo!

lightgreen · 27/12/2022 12:17

Just to say she’s been checked over and she’s fine . Thanks everyone.
