Kitten and baby - what do I need to know or think about

I am going to see a kitten this weekend - very exciting! She’s a Bengal cross, 4.5 months old.

I am really looking forward to getting a new cat, after my previous cat, another Bengal cross, died earlier this year. She was old and had cancer that spread quickly everywhere so we had to put her down and DH and I were devastated. It’s taken a long time to get over. But now having a new little fluffy feline presence is something we are looking forward to.

DD is 15 months. She LOVES animals, especially dogs and cats. Mesmerised by them. Has been around lots of dogs as all my and DH families have dogs - big, small, old, young.

Does anyone have any advice for how to make this a success? I’d be so grateful.

Make sure the cat has a safe space away from the toddler. And never leave them unsupervised together. A poster on another thread has a dog crate for her tiny kitten, to keep him out of harms way if she needs to leave the room.

Ooh dog crate is an interesting idea - maybe we could look to get a very small one of those.

For a space of their own - do you think a whole room, or like a bed up high somewhere (nailed up high on the wall / on a wardrobe)?
