That’s it really! My lovely old girl has had an accident on our bed. All bedding sorted, but what about the actual mattress? Any tips?

I'm watching post too, I have a pissy mattress as well.

On other threads like this people have recommended a spray on product from Pets at Home.

I've not had to use it on a mattress but this worked brilliantly on carpet after one of our cats had a uti. I imagine you'd probably need to use a lot to soak into the mattress but as long as it's then well aired, it "eats" away the urine without needing to be rinsed off.

There is also a similar product by Simple Solution on Amazon which I've not personally used but probably very similar

We ended up with a new mattress. Got all the sprays, followed online ideas and got a professional cleaner out and it still stank.

stuff www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pets/simple-solution-stain-and-odour-remover-750ml did work when our old boy peed on the sofa but it took a few applications to completely go.
You can try sprinkling with bicarb and hoovering up too.

I don't think you can.
New mattress for you I think.
But for next time buy some protectors to fit over the top.

toomanyflapjacks · 13/10/2022 17:12

I'd think I'd get a new one, sorry OP! Cat pee really lingers.

Dr Beckmann have a pet urine product which has worked for us for dog and toddler accidents! I was impressed how well it worked on the mattress. Worth a try for £4. Can get it in Sainsburys
