It's 11am my cat is still asleep in her bed

She's 13, in pretty good health, had her boosters and a check up 10 days ago and all was well. The vet had a good prod, her weight is steady and nothing to cause alarm.

In the mornings, she's normally in and out of the house, up and down the stairs, and generally quite active until early afternoon when she settles down for her snooze. But not today. She was in her bed when we came downstairs this morning, doesn't appear to have touched her breakfast, but will raise her head if you approach her, and will purr if stroked. It's probably too early to bundle her off to the vets (which really stresses her out) but do I give it a few days, as she may be just a bit under the weather?

Vet.

DeanStockwelll · 04/10/2022 11:16

Is there any chance she was out on the tiles last night and is just having a lie in.?

If not keep a close eye on her , try tempting her with a tasty snack but uf she fiwsnt perk up in the next few hrs , off to the vet this afternoon.
It may be aa well to give the vet a call now to see if they can advise and if needed book you a holding spot so you can be sure you will get a appointment later ( don't forget to cancel it if you don't need it )

Coffeepot72 · 04/10/2022 11:17

Just as I posted, she appeared upstairs, I got chance to have a good look at her and she seems fine (she's rolling on her back to let me stroke her tummy) but I'm keeping a very close eye on her. I am tempted to ring the vet for advice

How is she now?

Pixiedust1234 · 04/10/2022 20:14

She was having a duvet day. We all feel like one every now and then. Some cats can have a slight reaction delay to their boosters. Which one did she have this year, the triple, double or single shot?

Bestcatmum · 04/10/2022 20:14

My elderly cat does this from time to time. She seems to just need a day off sometimes.

DeanStockwelll · 04/10/2022 21:04

How is she this evening @Coffeepot72?

CuriousCatfish · 04/10/2022 21:11

My cat does this sometimes. I just think he's having an off day. He usually perks up later in the day.

hadtochangetothisone · 04/10/2022 21:28

You Know the rules... how can we possibly comment without a pic of your fatty bundle ?

Coffeepot72 · 04/10/2022 21:32

Thank you for all the advice, she seems back to normal this evening, such a relief. She had some Go Cat at lunch time (but didn’t touch her wet food) and from around 4pm she’s been in and out of the cat flap. I tempted her with some seabass this evening, she really enjoyed it, and is now sitting on our garden wall!

@Pixiedust1234 her booster was the combined cat flu/leukaemia (I think)

Aw it's good to know she is OK
Pp was right she was just having a duvet day, or she was doing it out of spite to worry the nasty human who put a needle in her 😹

Coffeepot72 · 04/10/2022 21:52

Yes, probably a duvet day, but she certainly had me worried, the little tinker!

Now about that photo . . . . . .

Toddlerteaplease · 04/10/2022 22:45

Sea bass? She'll be trying it on more often if that's what she gets given me

Toddlerteaplease · 04/10/2022 22:46

Gets given.

Pixiedust1234 · 04/10/2022 22:55

squeezes through the catflap and lies pitifully on op's bed

RandomMess · 04/10/2022 22:57

I would take her to the vets because they are experts at masking illness and this could be the start of something serious that early diagnosis probably via bloods and early treatment will make the difference.

Sits mewing outside cos too fat to fit through the cat flap , envy's Pixie

Pudmyboy · 05/10/2022 22:15

Could the vaccine have knocked her about for a bit? Certainly happens on occasion with humans and vaccines (my 2nd Covid led to a day off work and a typhoid vaccine years ago did the same. Still believe in vaccination before anyone says anything)
