Best way to remove urine smell from carpet?

I recently had an emergency stay in hospital and my cat sitter didn't empty the litter tray often enough and my cat ended up going in some washing left next to the laundry basket.
I want to make sure all traces of the smell have gone from the carpet so he doesn't continue to go there, what is best to use?

I used 1001 Carpet Fresh Pet from Tesco and found it very effective. It is a quick drying foam.
