Our boy hates change , it unsettles him .His sister likes to control everything .

We decorated our bedroom in May - carpet, wallpaper, paint, wardrobes, curtains, bed, bedding, side cabinet .
He used to sleep in our room during the day and waltz in at 5am to walk over us .
Since the change , he hasn;t liked people coming in and new things arriving , he has set foot in there once .
He sleeps on the sofa now . I will need to change the covers soon and that will piss him right off

In my defence , we replaced our saggy , ancient Erktop sofa with a brand new one .Partly because we only had limited space and partly because there's a space under that is the right height for a cat.

We had to close the gap in the garage door because a fox got in and wouldn't shift . This was his garage but we couldn;t let him in with a fox invading .
DH is fitting a catdoor (microchip) to let him come/go

DS has has incurred the wrath of the female by moving his room about . She now has to (so she says) jump on his bed , the windowsills, his computer tower then onto his desk . Instead of just jumping onto the desk which is by the door .

We are seriously bad Cat Slaves here !

Bought them a shiny new cat tree to replace the gross one they've had since kittenhood (they're nine). Carefully chosen to have two circular beds and be at just the right height.

It's been here three weeks and they haven't touched it... but I caught the fluffy one asleep in the discarded donut bed from the old one on the dining table the other day 😂 hoping they'll come round eventually to new one as the old one has gone to the tip...

Also stayed over with family last night and have come home apparently with a flashing neon sign announcing that I stroked their cat when she came and said hello. This is apparently tantamount to abandonment as one of mine is clinging to me as though she hasn't seen me for six weeks and the other one is refusing to look at me 😂

InvincibleInvisibility · 19/09/2022 00:17

I don't let him out enough/by himself.

We got him as an indoor cat (ragdoll) for our flat. 8 months later we move overseas to a house. He is thrilled to be in a new place and is desperate to be outside all the time.

But we've only been here 4 weeks, its hot and humid so he's panting after just 15 minutes outside, and my kids would be devastated to lose him so we're taking it slowly with him only allowed outside whilst supervised.

On the plus side he really likes it when he's brought back in cos I tip cups of water over him to cool him down. He then sits in the puddle on the tiles and laps the water. 🤔

Ha! we bought a multi-level cat tower that takes up a load of space they ignore it <sigh>

When they came in for supper , they ate then both sat with their faces pressed up against the french door because one of the neighbours was having a bonfire and obviously this was worth checking out .
Tomorrow they will roll in ash and get filthy !

Removing 3 half-dead bushes from the garden!

Turns out DCat loved sitting near them on the lumpy, hard soil. To the point where we haven't removed the last one (this one is alive but very inconveniently placed by previous owners) just so she can still sit on said lumpy, hard soil for a bit longer 🙄.

DCat did not speak to any of us for over a week, did not purr, did not let us stroke her and would not come anywhere near us - not that she was ever the friendliest of cats, but definitely got the hump! Many treats and play sessions later, we're friends again, thankfully.

Two dogs and two cats asleep on bed with DH and I. Dot arrived late to the party, jumped on the bed, swishing around, talking loudly and kneading every warm lump. Warning grumbles from the dogs but full on hissing from the other cats so I gently lifted her onto a pile of blankets on the floor. She's now at the door, looking all crushed and sad because I saved her from a big family falling out!

Allergictoironing · 19/09/2022 08:18

Started a job that means I have to be out of the house earlier than previously i.e. 7:15 rather than 8:45-9:00. Which means not just getting up earlier, but less time in the house before I leave. Which means only 30 mins cuddle on my bed before getting up properly.

Opposite reaction from Boycat to most of the ones above - he follows me around the house crying all morning. When I get in at night now, they both sound like a herd of baby elephants charging downstairs to greet me.

I had the temerity to buy a lovely new scratching post, all three dcats have given it this look 🧐😳🙀 and continued to scratch the chair 🙄

Earlier my lovely Crazy Cat Lady neighbour came round as she is kindly feeding them for four days when I go away and I had to give her a key and show her the exact positioning of each bowl You'd have thought I'd invited a serial killer into their home 😲😅

activediscussions · 21/09/2022 13:20

DH moved his desk from near the window to against the wall. DCat used to jump from the floor to the desk to the office chair or onto the filing cabinet then down onto the window sill.

She could now jump onto another lower and softer chair she occasionally used to sit on straight onto the window sill but she insists on jumping up onto the desk, down onto the lower chair and then up onto the window sill.

DH's desk has a lot of stuff on it and she will jump up and navigate the piles or sit on the floor and stare until we move a pile or two so she can continue her journey.

Either way, she's made it known she really doesn't support the new layout. I bet DH moves his desk back...

Moved the box of his cat food into the pantry, to stop him helping himself to sachets of food in the middle of the night

Wouldn't let him lay on my pillow this morning and attack my head and face at 5:30 cos he was bored

Because I won't give him more than 1 sachet a day as advised by the Vet cos he's fat little porker and he's suddenly turned his hog out at the small portion of biscuits he's occasionally allowed. He likes them he knows he does he's just choosing to ignore the bowl they're in

How did you get him to stop attacking your face lol? One of mine does this every morning and is very persistent - if I move or move him, he jumps right back into position. If I hide my face he starts clawing at whatever I hide it with. Lovely way to wake up each day 🤣

I had the cheek to put the duvet from the sofa bed away. For some reason whenever it is out this duvet is the BEST place to sleep, much better than their usual spots, and I am negligent for not leaving it out for them all the time..

MayISuggestSomeThickCutSteakChipsToGoWithThat · 23/09/2022 00:33

@Hakunamatata91 usually by giving him a quarter of his food sachet. That's usually enough to satisfy him so I can go back to sleep. Other times he just needs a cuddle and a little fuss and he's happy as Larry again. It's when he hooks his claws into my skin and gets them stuck. The other night he caught the inside of my ear right on the boney part and managed to hook his claws right in. I couldn't turn my head cos of how I was laid so had to somehow grab his arm and try and free myself. The pain was hideous I actually thought I was going to be sick! How the hell anyone can get a piercing through there is beyond me! Sometimes I just pull the duvet over my head and tuck it round. The first time I did that it was so funny cos I could feel him moving around trying his hardest to find a way to get his paw in. Now though he has a lovely habit of sitting on top of it till I can no longer breathe and have to come out again. He gives the best snuggles though so it's definitely all worth it

Sleep

DifficultBloodyWoman · 23/09/2022 00:54

I need to change to a different brand of kitty litter but haven’t yet because I am afraid of the consequences!

DontKeepTheFaith · 25/09/2022 13:36

DS2 has gone to university, that has definitely upset Dcat.

And the weather has turned so she doesn’t like going out much anymore. Somehow that’s our fault🤣

We are having a new bathroom soon, heaven only knows how she will cope with that noise! Normally when we have workmen she hides upstairs, we will need to create a safe space downstairs for her😢

Chanel05 · 25/09/2022 14:06

Put the cat stretching tree up of sale on marketplace this morning. She's completely ignored it for 2 years. Somehow, she seemed to know it was up for sale and I found her asleep on it this morning!

TroysMammy · 25/09/2022 19:14

I appeared to have turned down the temperature outside. Likewise I've made it dark in the morning.

Heronatemygoldfish · 25/09/2022 22:29

Insulated the catflap with bubblewrap and clear plastic sheeting. They can't see out now. I have been getting the evil eye. Until suppertime, at which point they both remembered how to use it.
