Help! Semi feral cat with swollen paw and limp

We have a couple of (neutered thanks to advice form thecatneuterer) semi feral cats who adopted us as home base when they were kittens. Although we’ve tried to tame them a bit and one will let us stroke it, the one who isn’t a fan of humans has got a sore paw at the moment.

I got quite close earlier as I was putting food out and he came close enough so I could see it and it’s very swollen and he can’t put weight on it or lie on it.

We’ve been trying to trap him without any luck and now he’s more wary of us and it. Does anyone know if a vet will prescribe any antibiotics or anything for me to hide in his food without seeing him? I have a couple of hours before I have to go to the hospital tomorrow morning and I was going to go to the vet and ask but thought I’d ask here first.

Ignore the mess of the garden, my DM is ill and I haven’t had time to tidy it or cut the grass.

I don’t think they will no, it would be illegal.

Poor sod it doesn’t look good does it?

Thanks for your reply, I went in this morning to ask and it was a definite no. They need to see him to prescribe anything. I’m pretty allergic to animals with fur so the only pet I’ve ever had was a goldfish, I didn’t realise animal prescriptions were as strict as human prescriptions.

They told me to contact cats protection but they want nothing to do with them as soon as you mention the words semi feral.

I could be kidding myself but I don’t think it was as bad this evening. DH is going to try to trap him tomorrow morning so fingers crossed.
