Hi,

We brought our 1 year old rescue home a couple of days ago. He is absolutely adorable, floofy, super affectionate, gentle but also very playful. He is really soft and slinky.

He's black, with brown on the underside/chest. We don't want an obvious name like Sooty, but something unique and unusual. Weirdly, we joked about calling him Chimney instead, and on the first day he climbed behind the fireplace to explore😂Chimney doesnt realy sound right though🤔

Others on the table so far are:
Zephyr
Knuffel (pronounced Ker-nuffle, Danish for hug)
Snickers
Bourbon
Marshall

Here are a few pics!😍

A colleague's cat is called Mr Jervis, which I think is right and proper. Go formal, it's what cats want.

Claude / Clawed

iklboo · 30/08/2022 20:42

This pair of reprobates are called Jazzy (white) & Changes (tuxedo).

I think something like:

Apollo
Horus
Horatio
Erasmus
Ozymandias (Ozzy for short)

Cuthbert. Bertie as a nickname.

Leafy3 · 30/08/2022 21:24

Jethro Tull.

As for 'Kitler', that shouldn't have made me laugh...but it did!

Craftybodger · 30/08/2022 21:24

Keeping with the chimney theme, thinking Mary Poppins, Poppins or Bert.

Blueuggboots · 30/08/2022 21:28

Quink

Hyacinth2 · 30/08/2022 21:29

Puss is quite unusual these days

3leafclover · 30/08/2022 21:29

Carlo, he should definitely be called Carlo.

Or Sweep (since you've ruled out Sooty)

DisforDarkChocolate · 30/08/2022 21:34

Oh he's going to be majestic.

How about Kobna, after the wonderful actor.

BarbaraofSeville · 30/08/2022 21:34

We had a cat that looked just like that some years ago. He was called Herbert.

Apl · 30/08/2022 21:39

He’s gorgeous OP!!

I’d name him after something regal or expensive. Like an unusual gemstone maybe. Lord Tourmaline?! Tor for short? I dunno it’s so hard.

Or after an ancient god like Zeus or Odin.

Lulibee · 30/08/2022 21:43

Have a look on the baby name thread, lots of inspiration for you there

Dunstan! It means 'one who is as dark as the stone' apparently.

sageandbasil · 30/08/2022 22:10

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats I have a basil too 😍

He's lush OP. Chims is a cute name

Catnipples · 30/08/2022 22:19

Oh these are all so good! He's either gonna end up with 6 names or just be 'the cat' 😆
