Just found my lovely cat dead on the side of the road

I have wrapped him in a blanket and have put him in a box, but it’s Sunday and I don’t know what to do now. Can anyone help with next steps?

am in bits but trying to be practical :(

I’m so sorry to hear this. It is utterly heartbreaking. We lost one of our boys the same way last year. He was only 14 months. We had him cremated - hopefully the vet will have been able to advise you.
They took his paw prints and I had them put on a ring 🐾

That’s so sad, I’m sorry. It depends what you want to do now, you can either bury him in the garden if you have one and want to, otherwise you can hang on to him and phone the vets about cremation tomorrow. 💐

If you can bear to, please let your other boy see him. He will know that his brother has gone and will not distress himself even more by trying to look for him constantly.

so sorry OP, it's horrible.

When one of my cats was run over and killed we put him in a box and after the kids had said goodbye to him I took him to the vet who arranged cremation. You could pay for either mass or individual, so I got individual & buried his little pot of ashes in the garden.

I’m so sorry, happened to me too. Let his db see him if you can bear it, if you can’t then you can’t.

It has happened to us and it is awful. We buried our cat in the garden in a place where we knew he would not be dug up

Thanks again for lovely messages, so sorry for all of you who have been through the same. Been a difficult day and still have to tell my eldest who slept at a friends last night and isn’t home yet.

We have taken him to the vet hospital who will cremate him for us.

I have one of those cat flaps that links to an app and tells you when they come in and out, he went out at 10.28 last night and that was the last time- the flap auto locks them in at 10.30 to try and limit outside at night time- just wish i’d set it for earlier or he had not tried to go out until a few minutes later- would have woken to him sage and home with us.

We have a pet cemetery that work 7 days a week in my area and you can go straight down for cremation. Check up on anything similar in your area.
