My cat was killed on the road yesterday and I’m devastated.

I knew that, as we live near a road that my cat loved to cross daily, it would be likely she’d be hit one day, but she wasn’t the kind of cat you could keep indoors and wanted to be out living her best life … I’m crying writing this 😢

Very sorry for your cat.

Take comfort in the fact that Bluebell was very happy and was living her life on her terms.

Thank you, I’m trying to take comfort from that …. It’s just so hard at the moment 😢 I keep thinking if only she’d not heard the dustbin lorry and got spooked, but I have to be realistic that Bluebell probably had several near misses on the road in the 2 years we’ve had her, it’s just that this time she wasn’t able to escape it.
I’ve laid a few flowers on the grass verge she was laid on, abd I’ve asked the vet for some of her fur and we’ll also have her paw print as well as her ashes back.

I never thought I’d get so attached to a cat as I’ve always had dogs, but I’m really gutted, as are my dc’s .

My beautiful boy was taken in the same way 6 months ago and I still haven't recovered.

You're right in that you know it could happen but the shock when it does is terrible.

It does of course get easier as time passes but I mourn my lovely boy every single day. He was very special to me.

So sorry you are going through this pain. Flowers I found printing and framing photos helped as I can still see him around the house.

I’m sorry for the loss of your boy, I think it’s a great idea of having photos about, I’ve asked for some of her fur and paw print, and we’re yet to decide how to put her ashes.

I do have a resin type tuxedo cat ornament (which looks so like her), and my Dad will probably open the back up so we can put some of her ashes in there, and maybe plant some bluebells in a pot in her memory too.

I'm desperately sorry for you. I've just had my boy put to sleep this morning and I think I'm still in shock

So sorry for your loss, Brokenheartedbluebellsmum. Our pets really get into our hearts. (Their little faces, and they way they look at us...)

I think you're right to take comfort from the fact that she lived life on her terms, and that the end was very quick.

So its you who are suffering more that she did. That's tough, but I know that's what I would prefer.

(Oh, and Bluebell is a lovely name).

Oh little darling bluebell may you rest in peace 🙏

I'm so sorry for your loss. Sending you love and hugs xx

I am so sorry, I lost a cat like that and it is just awful. Take comfort that she picked you and lived life as she chose.

It really is very tough, these well loved pets steal our hearts.

I’m so sorry for your loss.
My cat is like yours - not the sort who would be able to be an indoor cat. I bet your cat had the best life with you, out and about exploring the outdoors.

Thanks for your kind words, and for everyone else’s kind words too, I agree it’s us who suffer as our pets are at peace now 💐

Her name is lovely, we didn’t choose it, she was given that name from her previous owner who found her wandering in their garden sniffing bluebells. It really suited her though as she was quite a small cat (the vet said she was healthy but would never be big) and she was so dainty, but as independent and feisty as anything!

Gosh they certainly do steal our hearts, I don’t think she could’ve had a happier life as we were her slaves and ran around after her!

Thank you, she was extremely independent and only allowed one cat ‘friend’ into our garden, where they’d play together and chase each other …. Every other cat were swiftly chased away by her marking her territory!

Another to add to the chorus. So very sorry for your loss. I lost my boy like this 2.5 years ago and the loss is still with me. He was my furry soulmate and no other comes close. My neighbour found him and put him next to my front door. I see him out of the corner of my eye all the time. She will stay with you.

I’m really sorry you’ve also experienced the same thing with your pet 💐 that’s lovely how you describe him as being your furry soulmate, that’s the best way how I can describe Bluebell too, I just didn’t know how to put it into words.
I’ve heard so many people say they’ve been visited by pets, and years ago I had a beautiful lab (Lady) who after she died I could still feel her jumping on my legs on my bed on occasions.
I hope Bluebell does visit me somehow. 🙏🏻

Thank you, I’m just trying to console myself with the fact that she loved living with us and did her own thing when she wanted to. I’ve been awake ages hoping that I’ll ‘see or hear her’ , as I just really want to feel her presence, I miss her so much already 😢

Hi there.

I know this happened 3 years ago but with time does the pain get more bearable? I lost my cat and luckily she was chilled. Her name was Tabatha (aka Tabs for short). A car hit her as she was crossing the road to come back home after a night of adventure. She loved the outdoors. The pain is awful. Her little life was cut way too soon and I would give anything to have her back. We also pick her ashes up soon.
