Shall I give up on her ever using the new cat fountain?

Lola is often found sitting by the wc sink waiting for us to turn the tap on as this is her preferred way of having water.

We got her a Catit fountain, the one with the flower spout a few weeks ago. She's gone over and had a sniff but we've never seen her drink from it and she still ambushes us by the sink.

I did see her lick at it when it was turned off but as soon as I turned it on she jumped and ran off.

Think she may be intimidated by the 6 streams of water and think the fountain may be going back to the shop.

Has your cat eventually come round to the fountain?

Have you tried it without the flower installed? It should just pull out. It’s a lot more gentle without :)

Of course she's never going to use it.
She has Staff to provide drinking water.

Take off the flower. I had to do that because of one of my cats. She's a persnickety little thing and wasn't having it.

She has staff to provide drinking water 😂😂😂 😺 ⛲

We bought one 2 years ago...it's currently boxed up in the loft.

One of our cats took to it quickly - she loves it, sits next to it and yells at us until we turn it on for her.. The cat it was bought for didn't go near it for months, but he does use it now.
So it may he worth persisting.

Apologies, the new site seems to post pictures the wrong way up 😀

Mine love their fountain. Though it's not the flower one. Tell them
It's going to be thrown away. They will start using it!

My kitty has the same fountain. I was putting it in the kitchen for her and she wouldn't give it a second look. I was going to give up on it but moved it upstairs to a quiet spot and she will sometimes drink from it now. Maybe try moving it somewhere different

Try the HoneyGuardian one from Amazon. It's pretty nifty!!

Very quiet and the water flow is so gentle and bubbles up rather than spouting out. Like a babbling brook. Cat took to it straight away.

Best of all no wires. Runs on a rechargeable lithium ion battery.

Update - took the flower off and she’s had a look but no sipping yet (unless it’s by stealth!).

@Amrapaali - your cute cat is inspecting before sipping 😊

Where have you put it? Cats usually like to drink from a place that’s not near their food bowl.

Maggiethecat · 22/04/2022 11:26

In the kitchen but away from her food bowl.

Errrm... So, our lovely cat didn't seem to understand what it was there for. DS decided to teach him (sadly I didn't take photos...) and we saw him (cat) drink from it a couple of times after! The water goes down regularly now, but I never see kitty drinking. DS assures me It's not him drinking it, so the lesson seems to have worked.

I recommend showing the cat. We also taught him fetch this way.
