New rescue cat - contact shelter/vet or not?

We brought home our rescue cat on Wednesday. They spayed her in the shelter on Tuesday and she has had one of her vaccinations.

She was quite lively on Wednesday but since then has been extremely lethargic and is only eating very small amounts - about half a small bowl in the last 24 hours. Her incision doesn’t seem red or swollen (although has a slight lump) but she flinches a little if you touch an area around 1 inch from it. One eye is a bit weepy but not excessively so. She’s happy to be stroked but doesn’t want to be picked up, and just lies in her cat bed or hidden behind the couch for hours on end.

As she’s so new I don’t know how much of this is her personality, or if it needs a vet review. I thought she might have been just wrecked yesterday after all the attention but today I’m not so sure. Should I contact the shelter and ask? Unfortunately it’s a holiday here (ROI) which complicates things but I’m not sure if I should push it or just wait and see.

She's extremely lethargic & just had surgery. She needs to see a vet.

It sounds like an infection of the spay wound - definitely get her to the vet ASAP.

It's not unusual for cats to be quite hyper post spay - vets give them something to bring them round from anaesthesia. Often sleepy the following day.
I'm not surprised she doesn't want picking up after having surgery. I wouldn't keep trying either, she's probably sore. Just stroke her if she likes that. Give her time to heal.
Ring the vet for advice if you are worried.

I'd seek advice, start with shelter but also talk to vet.

Thanks everyone. I’ll contact the shelter and take their advice. I’ll update when I hear more.

Update - I contacted the shelter and they think she might have a mild flu. We’ve to keep her under observation and contact them again if she isn’t any better tomorrow. Thanks for all your responses.
