I have a particularly anxious cat. She was a stray for several years before I took her in. She had a pretty bad internal injury, probably from an old dog bite, which has now been fixed. When I met her, she was terrified of other the cats in the neighbourhood, which seemed to bully her and she was always being chased away. She's basically had a hard life and she's now much happier as an indoor cat and really is the most affectionate cat I've ever met.
Anyway, I've moved recently into an apartment with floor to ceiling sliding doors onto a large balcony which is regularly frequented by the biggest, fattest pigeons I've ever seen. My cat is scared of them! Initially, she was very interested in going onto the balcony (with my supervision) but now she won't step foot outside and she's super jumpy even when the doors are closed. I'm wondering if she's likely to settle down as she realises she's perfectly safe from them, or should I try to do something to deter the birds and keep them away?
