Cat is booooooored and there's noone to play with

Any other cats get bored and grumpy in the cold weather? Our cat still wants to play turf wars with her neighbours but it seems other cats are cosying up indoors.

This means in cold weather like this around 330 and 730 dcat will be trying to get more attention from us. She turns into a whinging nightmare who doesn't know what she wants.

Dcat is well fed and watered, has toys, we play with her everyday but in cold weather she is really at a loss.

Anyone else in same situation?

This is intended to be light hearted

I'm just curious... do you not let her out when she gets a bit 'buggy'? When my cats get whingy, I open the door and off they go for a bit, out to shake off the bugs in the fresh air.
How old is your cat? Have you considered getting a second one? It can be an adjustment and it's not without its initial difficulties, but my two are firm allies, in their own cat-like way. I mean, they're not all over each other with love, but getting a companion for our older cat has been one of the best things to happen to him.

All bloody morning I had this from Dcat1. Yowling but not hungry, didn't want to go out because he doesn't like the wind/rain/cold/squirrels, didn't want to go asleep. He is usually appeased if I take a kitchen kick board off so he can go for a wander under there. Or open the loft hatch. Or put his catnip fish on the robovac. Or throw a ping pong ball for him. We have other cats who do not behave like this, he's just a twat.

Dcat1 would definitely be like this if not for dkitten.... who ambushes him and makes him play with her Grin. He also hangs out longingly next to the pantry and is seemingly starving ALL the time Hmm

Yes, mine gets like this, especially when I working. She can go out but rarely does for more than 5 mins at this time of year.

I have told her she needs a hobby, and made various helpful suggestions (macrame, scrapbooking, learning poetry by heart, etc).

I ended up telling dcat she needs an extra sleep and put her to bed. Two hours later she's still asleep. ☺️😂

Dcat could do with a hobby too. I asked her today to at least stop bringing dirt into the house but she ignored that too.

Your descriptions of bored cats were perfect. She really is a twat when she's bored. Unfortunately she has no interest in sharing her home with another cat otherwise we'd definitely do this.

Dcat can go out as much as she wants. The problem is that's too windy and the other cats she normally stares at aren't being as daft as she is and still trying to play turf wars.

Roll on spring.

Mine would probably learn rude limericks.

They are into archaeology and the litterboxes are major dig sites. I'm thinking of burying some pottery shards in the hope that one will miaow "yes, it's definitely Roman" in the voice of Tony Robinson.

Either that or they are trying to make an indoor beach.
