Oh, god, the look she gave me Sad

She has boxes and blankets and toys and food and a litter tray, it's the best place for her before our early start tomorrow but... waaah!

She's never going to forgive me, is she?!

She will make you work very hard to earn forgiveness..
Bit cold for the shed imo though.
We emptied one room the night before and shoved our 2 in there...

I've moved lots. I had 3 cats (all gone now). Never had to put them in the shed overnight. Its winter.

Just have her in the house. Really, you're making an issue where there isnt one.

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/12/2021 17:12

Only if your holding a pot of Foie Gras and a copy of “why dogs are lesser beings” weekly.

HipposHaveNipples · 12/12/2021 17:13

Surely you could have put her in one room? Bit mean to lock her in a cold, dark shed in December...

swapcicles · 12/12/2021 17:17

Unless she's used to the shed it's a bit mean!
She knows somethings going on but confining her to one room at the old house then transferring her to another room in the new house with familiar smells but secure and quiet for a day or so would be better

Thurlow · 12/12/2021 17:38

I'd love to keep her in one room but the house is too small, there's no safe space here. I'll let her out till the morning and try and shepherd her back inside first thing tomorrow!

I don't understand why you've put her in the shed overnight because you're moving? Have I missed something?

SpindlesAdventWhirl · 12/12/2021 17:41

It's very cold outside. Can't you put her in first thing?

sparklefarts · 12/12/2021 17:43

I don't get why you did this?

Thurlow · 12/12/2021 17:51

I was trying to prevent her bolting tomorrow morning, as she's like that, it seemed safer to catch her when I could. She's not overly friendly and doesn't like people so there's such a high chance she'll go first thing. I'll see if I can round her up and keep her in one room tonight.

Just lock her in the house overnight. She cant bolt in the morning if you keep the cat flap locked. She wont like it, but she'll be a hell of a lot happier locked in the nice, warm house with her people than locked in the dark, cold shed alone. Then just put her iin a carry case in the morning so you can easily move her to the shed or wherever.

It is totally insane to lock her up outside instead of just locking the house door.

Better idea. It'll be freezing in that shed!

itsallgoneshitflavoured · 12/12/2021 19:21

Cruel to leave her locked in a shed in these temperatures. Please don't do that.

TheOldRazzleDazzle · 12/12/2021 19:26

It’s a bit late now, but we put our cat in a cattery the night before moving and picked her up when everything had been moved. She didn’t like it, but she wouldn’t have liked strangers tramping round the house either or being in a carrier for hours and at least she was warm and safe.

AwkwardPaws27 · 12/12/2021 19:31

We put ours in our bedroom - asked the movers to load everything else first, then moved them to the empty living room, & emptied the bedroom. Stuck a sign on the door to say don't enter too.
It worked well as the bedroom stuff was first off at the other end too, so we could get the bed together while they unloaded the rest Smile
We then shut them in the new bedroom until movers were gone.

headintheproverbial · 12/12/2021 19:44

Agree with others. Too cold. If she bolts I wouldn't really blame her!

forrestgreen · 12/12/2021 19:56

Mine stayed in the house the night before, we emptied a room into the van, then she was put in there with all her worldly belongings, with a big note on the door.
She was the last out, then put in the new bathroom, with the big note on the door.

Toddlerteaplease · 12/12/2021 21:16

It's 11o C hardly freezing!
