And if so how often?

No; I value my fingers

lunarlandscape · 27/11/2021 22:23

Hah. Twice the vet suckered us into buying cat toothpaste and when we said the cat wouldn't let us near his teeth, just grinned and said, 'Yeah, they don't.' Could have told us that before encouraging us to buy the stuff and traumatise DCat, who is ancient and currently purring, (toothless) on my lap.

ElephantandGrasshopper · 27/11/2021 22:24

Nope.

APerfectSky · 27/11/2021 22:24

Nope!

APerfectSky · 27/11/2021 22:25

Lol, cross post!

toomanyplants · 27/11/2021 22:28

I would consider this an extreme sport.

WitchDancer · 27/11/2021 22:41

Hell no!

eddiemairswife · 27/11/2021 22:42

Ha! Ha!

Galaxyinmypocket · 27/11/2021 22:45

Haha, theres no way a cat would sit for teeth brushing, the kids are difficult enough to persuade

BrilliantBetty · 27/11/2021 22:46

No Grin

lisaandalan · 27/11/2021 22:48

I have dogs do teeth everyday, except odd occasion I forget. But I get toothbrush wipes from pets at home use brush 3 times a week and wipes 4 times. X

SueGeneris · 27/11/2021 22:49

I do!

He’s a Siamese, and chews everything he shouldn’t, especially rubber mats and woolly gloves. He’s pretty compliant, though I have given up trying to use the toothpaste for now. He seems to quite like the pressure on his gums and will chew at the brush.

I started doing it as although he is gorgeous, his breath could stop traffic.

icedcoffees · 27/11/2021 23:41

No way. I value my life Grin

SkankingMopoke · 28/11/2021 00:45

Hahahahahaha!

No.

Totallydefeated · 28/11/2021 00:54

Opened this thread as was intrigued as to whether anybody has ever managed this. Somewhat surprised that there is one... Grin

TurnUpTurnip · 28/11/2021 00:55

No didn’t realise people did

hagsrus0 · 28/11/2021 00:58

Persisted until he ripped off my other arm.

ArblemarchTFruitbat · 28/11/2021 01:14

No - they would never tolerate it.

Instead I pay £200 to the vet for a 'dental' about once every eight years.

twinkletoesbluesky · 28/11/2021 01:24

No. Just make sure they have plenty of biscuits, it's good for their teeth and seems to clean them effectively

RainbowBabyForChristmasPlease · 28/11/2021 01:37

My Cat loves his teeth being brushed. Then again he's a little weirdo who also loves belly rubs and his fur stroking the wrong way

NotMyCat · 28/11/2021 01:39

Er. No Grin

Do you brush your cats teeth?
NotanotherboxofFrogs · 28/11/2021 01:39

Yes on a daily basis. I still have all my fingers. I have 2 cats (litter mates) who are 20 months old. I started it as soon as they arrived with me.

We use Beaphear tooth gel rather than the paste, the paste is spat out when I tried using it but if I use the gel no problems at all.

It works on the enzymes rather than me having to physically brush for them so once a day I lift cat up on my knees and squeeze a dollop into their mouths and carry on as normal. It takes seconds and they see it as a treat. It's liver flavoured.

They have healthy teeth and gums as per the vet, even boy cat who broke one of his front fangs last year but it isn't exposed and he is eating well since, he did bite his lip which caused a bit of pain for a few days.

Lesson being to not jump from the top of the wardrobe to the chest of drawers and miss the drawers but hit your jaw on the corner of it ouch.

Toddlerteaplease · 28/11/2021 12:35

I was given some toothpaste for Cheddar. She was pretty good about it, until she tasted it. It was vanilla flavour. HmmHmmHmmIt clearly tasted vile, so I didn't bother with it. Chicken or fish flavoured, she'd have been ok with. (She is an exceptionally placid and gentle cat. My life or fingers , were never in danger)

Toddlerteaplease · 28/11/2021 12:36

@NotMyCat that is the best picture of Ollie ever!

josephinerosa · 28/11/2021 17:02

Ok... I'm glad I'm not the only one who hasn't managed 😂
