Lost cat - what to do next

I've posted on the local lost pet forum on Facebook, shared it on my own page & asked people to share it.
Been walking round the estate shouting him last night and this morning!
I've phoned the local vets hospital - he's not there
I'm going to make some flyers & posters,
He is microchipped - will fish out the paper work and see if there is anything I can do there.
What else can I do? Please help

Just a rat so far tonight! God I bloody hate this!

I really hope tonight's the night you catch him! Ours went missing years ago - only for three nights but it was awful. She turned out to have got herself locked in the local bakery for the whole of a Bank Holiday weekend, the little bugger.

SeagullSong · 07/12/2021 20:37

Sounds like the little devil is having too much fun chasing rats! Hope you are able to catch him soon, it is exhausting when they do this to us.

Ajl46 · 07/12/2021 20:44

Have you contacted Animal Search UK? It's free animalsearchuk.co.uk/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIprPw8MbS9AIVnoODBx0c8Q5yEAAYASAAEgJWBPD_BwE

leotardrock · 08/12/2021 07:46

Aj I did look at them, and it seems quite exploitative & expensive.
They want over £500 for posters & a social media campaign.
We know where he is now, we just need to catch him!

Any news @leotardrock .

leotardrock · 08/12/2021 14:09

We will continue to keep our fingers and paws crossed for his safe return .

icedcoffees · 08/12/2021 15:53

Oh no - I can't believe he's still evading capture!

I suspect he'll be under house arrest for life after this Grin

Onionbhajisandwich · 08/12/2021 17:48

Fingers crossed for you OP. My cat went missing for 2 weeks once. It was awful. She managed to make her way back on her own. I hope yours is back soon too.

Plump82 · 08/12/2021 18:15

Every time I see an update in my email I just hope it's a good news story. This must be so frustrating for you OP.

leotardrock · 09/12/2021 21:48

Still no news! Moved location slightly on a potential sighting, caught a black and white cat but not the right one! . He got plenty of the tuna so I'm sure he's not too traumatised!
Nothing caught on the camera since Sunday! Well plenty of rats no missing cat!

Really hard to keep going, done another leaflet drop to the houses that back on to where we think he is!

Put my dirty washing g on the line tonight rather than the morning today to see if that made any difference, of course now it's pissing it down,🙁

I can't believe you've still not got him Sad

pippapoo62 · 13/12/2021 10:17

Don't give up, a lady in our village lost her cat .She was an indoor cat .Every now and again a citing, eventually six weeks later the cat was seen and captured in someone's garage. Funnily we have an outdoor cat in our village and this cat had befriended her and stayed with her which most probably saved her. I had seen them together a few times but couldn't catch the lost one. So a happy ending

leotardrock · 13/12/2021 13:31

Feeling very sad today! We haven't picked up a photo of him since last Sunday so putting the trap down is pointless, we're just going to catch all the neighbourhood cats!

I really thought we were going to get him last week!

People are still reacting to the posters, we had a call yesterday & a text with a photo today - nothing came of either of them but it is reassuring to know people are still looking!

I hope that there will be a happy ending to it - the cat that came home for Christmas.

Santahatesbraisedcabbage · 13/12/2021 18:59

Not sure if it's been mentioned and quite sensitive so I do apologise.
. But have you rang the local council? Apparently they aren't obliged to check for a microchip if they 'collect' any deceased dcats... I lost a dcat and never knew what happened to him. Better to know imo.
Saying that don't give up. Our tortie queen went missing for 6 months. Found her at a shop literally in the next street!

leotardrock · 14/12/2021 13:57

Thanks Santa, that is on my list, need to build myself up for that!

Although from the area he has been seen he's avoiding roads, houses & people!.

Anyway we have reached abit of an end point - the photos from last night show we're feeding a fox - I think he's moved on!

We need to wait and hope there's another sighting! And just prey he finds his way home!

With a regular lap of the estate just in case!

leotardrock · 14/12/2021 23:00

God today has been hard! I think I've been distracting myself with all the practical stuff!

Had a good cry today, I missed his furry little face waiting for me when I came downstairs from finishing wfh!

Anyway here is again - my best boy! If I get any good news I will update the thread!

Really sorry to see your boy is missing…. One of ours has disappeared for the last 36 hours too, it’s so stressful, more so because it’s very snowy where we live and temperatures below zero overnight.

🤞🏻 Hope yours and ours are both back v soon

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/12/2021 18:27

If he’s doing laps of the estate hopefully he’ll eventually find your garden again. You are doing all you can and no body has been found so you’ve always got hope.

leotardrock · 15/12/2021 22:02

Thanks Fluffy - that's my hope! Still calling him for breakfast & tea as well as shaking his biscuit box!
Hope he hears me if he gets close enough!

Plump82 · 18/12/2021 22:17

I'm assuming no update means no news. I'm hoping for a wee Christmas miracle for you.
