Would love to know my cat’s parentage

She’s a year old. REALLY big - about 6kg, but carries it well so she doesn’t look tubby. Just big. Extremely long haired but muscular - I’ve had fluffy cats before that have been purely all fluff but slender. She’s long as well.

She has this gorgeously long and fluffy tail. It’s a bit like a raccoon’s tail. The vet commented on how fluffy it is Grin Biggish ears that are tufty and her paws have it too. She’s like a massive moving cloud.

Her mum is a street cat from Greece - very sleek and proper Egyptian cat looking 🥰 Her sister is a black and white short haired tuxedo cat. Couldn’t be anymore different.

Pics attached.

This gets better.
Put in a picture of TC and hadn't noticed that his tail wasn't visible.
89.3% Manx cat 🙀
5.5% Bengal

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 20/11/2021 10:37

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats I would have said Maine coon too. He’s enormous! Do you know his dad?

@Santaischeckinglists

Did you know op if a dcat has 6 dkittens they could have 6 different df's?!
Well i didn't know that!

OP, your cat is beautiful.

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats What a fabulous feline!
@Amrapaali Beautiful kitty!

FlyingFlamingo · 20/11/2021 10:49

I have just uploaded photos of my 2.

One came out at…99% tuxedo. I wasn’t aware that was a breed Hmm

The other is mostly domestic short hair with some Burmese. I’m not sure she’s that exotic Grin

FlyingFlamingo · 20/11/2021 10:51

The littler one also had a small amount of Manx allegedly - she has an incredibly long tail Grin

It’s good fun though, thanks for the tip!

icedcoffees · 20/11/2021 16:39

Her face doesn't look at all Maine Coon to me.

I would say she's probably just a domestic long-haired mix :) there may well be some Norwegian Forest or Siberian in there, but they're not particularly common breeds over here, so it's not that likely.

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/11/2021 16:43

I can’t believe you mis-breeded TC @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 20/11/2021 16:48

He's just shy of 6kg, long and sleek with no excess fat at all. His littermate sister Sybil is much smaller at just over 4kg.

I've always assumed Dad was a local rufty tufty DLH. Pretty certain there is nothing 'posh' in their genes Grin

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 20/11/2021 16:50

I tried another picture of TC and it said purebred Bengal. He isn't. There are however dark rumours of a possible Bengal ancestor Shock.

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/11/2021 16:54

That’s better. We don’t want his highness being depressed. It’s not his fault he was born the wrong side of the blanket.

Ohmygodyesthatsit · 20/11/2021 17:02

I cat scanned my dp apparently he is 48% sphinx this was the pic they used to demonstrate, i actually laughed till i cried but i am unkind.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 20/11/2021 17:10

I've put two more pictures of Sybil in the app.
One said DLH (correct)
The other said purebred Neblung (NOT)

What's really odd is that it's decided both Karl and Lenny are domestic long hairs. They really aren't long haired cats. DMH at a push.

I'm enjoying this app far too much...

I’ve been reading about Norwegian forest cats - had never heard of them before. I always just joked she was part main coon because that’s the only big fluffy kind i knew. I don’t think she’s main coon but possibly Norwegian - she has a lot of the physical characteristics - right shape eyes, triangular shape head, flat nose, and many of the personality traits. We would always comment on her dog like personality - she goes from room to room checking on us and patrols her territory outside all day long, which stood out to me on W description of Norwegians. But who knows. Most likely just DLH 🤣

Her mum was a rescue from Greece who was pregnant when she came over. Dad could have been from anywhere.

Would love to do a proper DNA test on her but DH is like “Errrr no, we’ve not even had our own done”, 😂

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 20/11/2021 17:51

Although actually I have had DLH’s before and her fur seems different. It’s very thick. When she was neutered and shaved, it grew back in layers and had several coats, not just one like a DLH.

I’m just going to pretend she’s part Norwegian, and start learning phrases so I can speak to her 😂

Your cat sounds as if she could by my cat's sister, OP!

He is big (5.2kg), long and fluffy with a ridiculous feather duster tail. Also super friendly and dog-like in his nature too. He's a rescue cat so we know nothing about his parentage.

What do you think, related? Grin

Men really hold you back at times like this don’t they? Proper mood hoovers.

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 20/11/2021 18:00

@MyMumTracyBeaker oh he is a beauty! Look at those fluffy pantaloon legs!

Grin I would not like to be the developer of the Cat Scanner app once TC finds out that it thinks he is a Manx cat. I did not realise that TC was not a pure Bengal though.
Squills · 20/11/2021 21:11

She’s a beauty!
