My cat is hissing and growling at me when I go near her. Normally very affectionate

She is 1 year old and normally loves cuddles and strokes

Last 24 hours she has become aggressive when we go to stroke her. She is eating and drinking fine and has no obvious injury or illness etc

Poor wee soul 🙁

You definitely need to get her to the vet, something is definitely wrong there.

Tiredmum100 · 11/11/2021 20:05

Agree, take her to the vet. She could be in pain. My cat was limping recently. Took him to the vet and he had an infection, maybe though a cut. His glands were swollen, luckily after some antibiotics and pain relief he was his usual self. I didn't realise how unwell he was, I just thought he'd jumped on his paw awkwardly. If your cat is hissingand acting out of character then something is definitely wrong.

Will take her tomorrow

update us when you can? hopefully easily sorted. x

perfectionistchaos · 11/11/2021 20:30

The most likely explanation is that she is in pain - she needs to see the vet :(
Hope everything is ok.

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/11/2021 20:32

I bet the vet finds an abscess in 5 minutes.

Ours had an abscess on his head, he was a bit warm but everything else was normal, I even furminated it without realising. The next day he came in with thick green puss oozing out of it all over his fur like snot.

toecoffin · 11/11/2021 20:35

I'll update you tomorrow

She is sleeping just now x

You were right - a cat bite abscess

She is now settled on pain relief and antibiotics 🙂

Poor baby. I hope she heals soon.

CarrieMoonbeams · 12/11/2021 15:41

Ouch, poor wee lamb.

I have a Ragdoll cat who is the sweetest, soppiest lump ever. Frightened the life out of me when she did exactly that OP - she hid under a shelf in the hall cupboard, I had to use DH's motorbike gloves to get her out, she was a wee ball of rage! She had a broken tooth.

Hope your girl feels better soon.

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/11/2021 16:17

She’ll feel better soon.

toecoffin · 12/11/2021 16:34

It's great because it's a long lasting antibiotic injection so don't have to try and get tablets in

She's all curled up in a warm spot and looks settled 😊

Poor thing. I'm glad you took her to be checked out and that she's had treatment.

lljkk · 12/11/2021 18:22

Thanks 4 update.

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/11/2021 15:59

How is she today? I wish humans had long acting antibiotic injections.
