Can I have some advice on my kitten please? He's crazy!

My kitten is 3 months old and chewing everything.

I've never known anything like it.
I've had this with puppies and dogs but never cats in the past.

He's adorable, he's so lovely and if anything this crazy dog-like side makes us love him more!

But he's chewing everything, he's breaking things and he's chewing plants, kids toys, the binder in on my note pads.

I'm really worried for his health.

Can I assume it's teething?

I live round the corner of a vets, is there some kind of popular toy that he can enjoy chewing to get his needs met?

Also, he wants to eat WAY more than the box recommends.

I tried doing good lead by him but he ended up eating more than the adult amount so feel this can't possibly be good and he can't self regulate with food?
Again something I've only experienced with dogs.

He's fussy with dry food, should I persevere?

Shall I try a certain brand?

Thanks.

We have lots of kitten toys, but he's destroyed most of them.

I feel like he needs dog toys!

It probably is because of teething and he should grow out of it. If he doesn't, then it might be because of a health problem or comfort chewing. Is he due for a vet visit? If not, pop in or call them for advice.

At this age they are little balls of destruction. I would confine him and thus the damage to one room. This is why two kittens is a good idea as the entertain each other. Do you spend much time actively playing with him? Dangling a fishing rod toy for a few minutes will tire him out.

He has been, and he's going again on Saturday.

I will ask them.

Any recommendations for toys?

Sorry also meant to say he will grow up very fast and in few months will calm down.

I'm sure dog toys won't hurt him. Give them a go :)

My cat is 2 and he chews on everything as well. His favourite being plastic wrappers.

I’d get him some puppy chew toys and let him loose on them. I feed kittens if they so much as glance towards the kitchen.

He sounds great.

Definitely sound alike he is teething. Have you tried buying the kicker type toys so he can hold on to it with his feet whilst chewing and and kicking at the same time?

Something like this

Are you sure he's a kitten and not something else?

There was an article in the newspaper just yesterday about a family's "Siberian Husky" puppy that turned out to be a wolf cub.

Besides. How could we possibly advise without a photo?

helpfulperson · 09/11/2021 14:45

I've seen an article about some who took in a puma kitten by mistake.

Kong do cat chew/dental toys. My bitey cat loves the caterpillar.

You should feed him as much as he wants, he's growing, you can regulate it when he's fully grown if he can't do it himself!
