My girl had an abscess about 6 weeks ago. It burst and we cleaned it up then antibiotics and pain killers from the vets. A month ago it was signed off as being healed up nicely.

At 5pm she came running in all upset and I thought she had been spooked by fire works. She sat on DH and went to sleep, as she usually does. A little later he noticed that her scar from the abscess had reopened and was bleeding. I cleaned it with cooled boiled water and she went back to sleep. She stayed there until 10.30, but that’s not unusual. I cleaned it again then and it looked like it was starting to dry up. We gave her some food with some painkillers that we had from the abscess.

She does seem a bit out of sorts but she is eating.

Do I need to take her to the vets again?

Oh, it’s behind her ear so she can’t lick it.

Anyone?

I would yes. Cats don’t show illness so if you can tell she’s out of sorts she’s worse than you think.

Yes, take her back to the vets - she may need more antibiotics.

Send a photo to vet and ask if you need to come in?

I'd definitely take her back to the vet. I hope she's OK
