Long story short my elderly mum has ended up with a 10 year old cat who used to live outdoors/in a garage at night.
She's moved the cat into her house and it's shitting all over the room she has it contained in. It is doing pee in the litter box.
My husband is at the house right now ripping up the carpet and putting down a wooden floor to make it easier to clean up.
My mum has two other cats who use a separate litter tray.
Is this just the way it's going to be because the cat doesn't' know any better or is there an easy/stress free way to persuade it to poo in the litter box (or outside).
