Damn cat nearly got me in big trouble

So my cat Angus and I share a naughty secret. When DH is not around I let him lick my cereal bowl when I've finished my breakfast. I'm not a lover of letting animals lick plates and my DH hates it but I just can't resist the eyes.

So I've been away for a few days and DH messages me yesterday morning saying don't know what's up with Angus, he's just sitting staring at me and sends me this photo. DH then says I think he's missing you. Yes that must be it replied .... 😬 😳

Angus needs to learn some tact 😂 He’s gorgeous! Beautiful colouring.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/09/2021 07:34

Yeah that’ll be it. At least he hasn’t dive bombed his cereal bowl.

Crazycatlady202020 · 05/09/2021 07:39

Angus is beautiful!

Toddlerteaplease · 05/09/2021 08:36

Hilarious! He's gorgeous. My mum was really concerned about their cats behaviour, because she thought he'd forgotten her been fed. I had been giving him extra food in the kitchen. And it turned out my dad had as well. GrinGrin

I couldnt resist Angus either he is so lovely.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 05/09/2021 08:46

Very funny Grin Angus is a beautiful boy.

Vallmo47 · 05/09/2021 08:49

Brilliant 🤩 Such a beautiful cat.

Purplecatshopaholic · 05/09/2021 08:59

Aww beautiful Angus

Icequeen01 · 05/09/2021 09:01

So glad I'm not the only one who wouldn't be able to resist him! We have it down to a fine art. DH usually goes in the shower first and that's when he gets my bowl. Occasionally things don't work out and DH is still around so I have to resort to giving him lots of dreamies so I feel less guilty. Cat slave or what!

I think DS does this with our cat. Unfortunately the cat doesn't understand The Rules only apply in certain situations and so I frequently get an enraged DH coming up and saying "that bloody cat tried to drink the milk from my cereal bowl as I was eating from the other side Shock I told him he was lactose intolerant AGAIN but he wouldn't stop" Grin

Icequeen01 · 05/09/2021 09:07

@Fluffycloudland77

Yeah that’ll be it. At least he hasn’t dive bombed his cereal bowl.
To be honest I did worry that might happen 🤣

I suggest a message saying ... poor darling Angus - tell you what - why don't you let him lick your cereal bowl just this once?

@YetAnotherSpartacus

I suggest a message saying ... poor darling Angus - tell you what - why don't you let him lick your cereal bowl just this once?
And I know exactly what DH would say. If I do it this once he will expect it every time! 🤣

I also honestly think he would put the cereal bowl in the bin (even though it goes in the dishwasher!). DH is a freak and I take a little bit of satisfaction in knowing that he's unknowingly using a bowl the cat licked 🤣🤣

YetAnotherSpartacus · 05/09/2021 10:04

Oh dear. I can't help but think that Angus is thinking that your DH is both mean and a little dim (doesn't he know I want his bowl)?

TheLongRider · 05/09/2021 11:02

That's hilarious! I have a similar agreement with my cat Hobbes about being allowed to drink water in the kitchen sink.

I'm down first in the morning, I feed them and then sort out the dishwasher. Hobbes has breakfast, jumps into the sink an expects me to turn on the tap for him, despite there being perfectly good water fountain in the same room. I think Hobbes is smart enough not to ask DH...

LukeEvansWife · 05/09/2021 11:07

Angus is gorgeous and your DH is clearly totally unreasonable Grin

Toddlerteaplease · 05/09/2021 11:21

Can we have a pick if his equally gorgeous brother OP? Seriously though. What is it about the 'big eyes' look that cats give us that turn us to putty!

Soubriquet · 05/09/2021 11:29

@Fluffycloudland77

Yeah that’ll be it. At least he hasn’t dive bombed his cereal bowl.
I once had a cat who climbed on to my dads stomach, reached up and pinched a crisp right from his hand/mouth

My dad hated all animals and he was not impressed by this. Ironically enough, she never did it to anyone else

Soubriquet · 05/09/2021 11:32

I see no difference

Brollypackedforscottishholiday · 05/09/2021 11:35

Looks like he is plotting to kill your dh tbh...

AlfonsoTheMango · 05/09/2021 11:37

Angus is trying the Vulcan Mind Meld on your husband.

Papergirl1968 · 05/09/2021 12:08

My Matt stands on me and tries to shove his head in the cereal bowl while I’m eating from it.
I push him off but have got into the habit of leaving a bit of milk in the bottom of for him, even though I’m generally against the idea of pets eating from human dishes!
I can’t resist this face though Smile

Elieza · 05/09/2021 12:21

Just tell DH you pour the left over milk into a cat bowl for d-cat to lick. He’s waiting for DH to get said cat bowl out and get milk.

Problem solved.

And er actually try and do that in future so no further issues arise?!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 05/09/2021 12:29

Sorry, dear. I've been keeping it from you, but Angus and I get a perverse delight from the fact that every morning for the last x years he has been licking my cereal bowl - and you have eaten from these. In fact, I leave extra for him! So far, you still seem to be alive. Now, do give Angus his dues and get over it, or let me know if I need to contract the services of a SHL. In the event of a split, I get Angus and all remaining cereal bowls. Your loving (ex?)wife, Ice.
