Cat with cone of shame has got out

Ok, feel really angry with myself, cat had a bad eye so took him to the vets and lots of tablets and the cone of shame. I shut him in a room with a high up open window, and left dh to check on him, popped out for 10 mins and the cat has got out with the cone on. I’m now worried sick, firstly, can they get the cone off, is that the least I’m going to see of him. Has this ever happened to anybody else with a positive outcome. Could kick myself for leaving the window open but it’s so warm and I though he needed air and seeing as he couldn’t even walk in a straight line with the cone on, I wrongly presumed it would be safe.

Shit. You need to get all neighbours on the case. Lots of posters/leaflets and door knocking. As you know it is very dangerous for cats to be out with cones on, but at least they are easily spotted. Is it all gardens onto gardens? There's no woodland or anything he could get lost in?

Shit. Do you have a local town/village Facebook page you can put it on asking people to keep an eye out and catch him/alert you if they see him?

Mission accomplished = smug cat.

Minus the cone = I'm not surprised! Glad he's home.

Sorry OP but this has made me laugh (now I know he’s home safe and sound). Typical cat! Grin

Use a paper plate 🤣

Glad he is home

Next time don't give him cone, he won't really be able to old it with his paws, try a tub - he won't need the little plastic spoon either. 🍦
