Ouch. You poor thing. Maybe try spot on worker in future?

anonymice · 06/07/2021 15:29

do you think you might need antibiotics? Just watch your finger doesn't get hot and swollen - cats mouths are so dirty.

KatyMac · 06/07/2021 15:33

I have sent dh to get spot on
This was my last tablet

I'll keep an eye on it but it bled quite freely so that should clean it a bit

OTC spot ons don't work mind. Needs to be from the vet

TaraR2020 · 06/07/2021 15:35

Ouch! Don't hesitate to get it checked will you? Cat bites can be awful!

Bargebill19 · 06/07/2021 15:35

Ouch.
If you do go down the tablet route again - a pill popper gadget, gardening gloves and a large thick towel.

mrscatmad31 · 06/07/2021 15:37

Please get some antibiotics, I worked as a vet nurse for 10 years, always had to get antibiotics for cat bites

Dronspot is OTC and highly effective.

Is this one OK?

It's gone very purple

I'm very good at it normally - thick blanket and wham! But this is a new rescue so I need to relearn

Yes, it's a good one.

You need ABs. You do not want an infection under your nail.

KatyMac · 06/07/2021 15:53

No gp/nurse appt unless I ring at 8am tomorrow and I can hardly turn ip at a&e with that fingso I'll ring in the morning

I had this problem worming and the spot ons were not for round worm. Solution was worming cream in a syringe from pets at home. Nothing else could be hidden in food. I too tried the tablet down the throat to my cost!
So now it is spot on for fleas, spot on for tape worm and cream in food for round worm. We cat slaves live and learn and stump up the money.
Cos we luv them so much

Mumsgirls · 07/07/2021 21:56

Eric acts like he has been shot when ai use spot on lol

Bargebill19 · 07/07/2021 21:59

How is the finger op?

KatyMac · 07/07/2021 22:42

A tad worse I think

But I am at the hospital tomorrow morning so I'll mention it while I am there and see what they think

Ouch!

I read a top tip for tablets which works for me - my cat was a horror for spitting them out even with the gadget.

Anyway, I lay him on his back on my thighs, open his jaws and drop tablet it. Clamp mouth shut and before he knows what's happening he's swallowed it.

If he's very wriggly or has sussed what I'm about to do I wrap him in a towel first.

Bargebill19 · 07/07/2021 22:52

Owww. That’s going to turn a nice shade. Hope tomorrow it’s much better.

goddessofmischief · 07/07/2021 22:55

Honestly please get this checked out. A friend of mine almost lost his hand to a cat bite that got infected. Don't delay.

BirdsandBeesmakinghay · 07/07/2021 22:55

What’s the tablet? My vet doesnt offer tablets. Used to use Drontal.

seething1234 · 07/07/2021 22:57

You probably will need a tetanus shot

Lokdok · 07/07/2021 23:19

Yeah, call 111. Due to the placement especially, it’s impossible to clean properly. You might need to start antibiotics tonight and they can prescribe over the phone for you to pick up from a chemist.

MiniMaxi · 07/07/2021 23:33

Husband got bitten by a cat recently, went to a&e the next morning and they told him he’d done the right thing - needed tetanus booster and they ALWAYS give antibiotics for cat bites as can turn nasty quickly.
