Our beautiful Siamese isn't massively affectionate

But the other day we had a lovely cuddle/stroke - I'm not used to touching her so I don't really know the way around her body

On her tummy, low down, quite centrally was a sort of jelly like mass - it moved, it felt weird and it was uneven in texture

So what is there? I have googled but im not getting anywhere

Could it be an umbilical hernia?

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/06/2021 07:34

Is it flubber?. A lot of cats have squishy tummies.

Cazzovuoi · 28/06/2021 07:36

Primordial pouch. It’s where both the rage and the love are stored.

On some cats it’s big, on others they don’t appear to have one. It’s squishy and flubbery!

sashh · 28/06/2021 08:11

Primordial pouch?

Somuddled · 28/06/2021 08:14

How big was it? A primordial pouch is more like extra skin across the whole low side of the belly. What you are describing sounds more like a hernia or a growth.

KatyMac · 28/06/2021 09:06

It could be fat - it's sort of between her skin and her body if that makes sense

Down low between her hind legs

It feels lobe -y if you know what mean

Oh damn another visit to the vets

I was hoping you'd say oh it's a xyz don't worry

Does it hang when she is standing. My 1st thought was the same as others, primordial pouch. Our boys is massive and swings when he runs!! Our girl doesn't really have one.

KatyMac · 28/06/2021 19:08

Not really and I think that would be slightly further forward?

This is quite far back

Is the pouch the hangy bit of skin that wobbles

OP posts:
Plump82 · 28/06/2021 19:27

The pouch is more or less between their back legs and them comes up to the middle. Its very wobbly.

FelicityBeedle · 28/06/2021 19:30

I’ve just given my boy a feel, he yowled indignantly. Closer to his body at his abck legs there is a sort of wiggly lobey feeling thing. He’s had a recent enough check up so I think it’s just what his abdominal wall feels like!

KatyMac · 28/06/2021 19:32

Lovely @FelicityBeedle

I can calm down now GrinGrin

If she was cuddly I'd have know about it already

She is on extra strength feliway and she still bites

Theunamedcat · 28/06/2021 19:32

Go on tiktok there are people flashing there cats pouches see if its in the right place?

Blueballinthegarden · 28/06/2021 19:45

I have a Siamese and he has a primordial pouch flubber, he is generally very happy to show his off (tart) 😂
When she lies on her back is it flat? That could be a way of working out whether it’s a pouch or hernia? Pouch on mine flattens out a bit more with gravity!

Blueballinthegarden · 28/06/2021 19:46

Meant to add that it seems really obvious on him, being Siamese the rest of him is quite slinky if that makes sense?

KatyMac · 28/06/2021 22:12

It is very flat yes and quite moveable!

Mind you she is very fat for a siamese

Blueballinthegarden

My cat will run up to complete strangers and show them her belly to be rubbed, we call it 'tarting'.

Blueballinthegarden · 29/06/2021 07:28

@sashh cute!

FelicityBeedle · 29/06/2021 15:25

@sashh I think my boy has just become the tartiest. He’s just come back smelling strongly of perfume

Allergictoironing · 29/06/2021 18:03

Boycat's number one favorite thing in the whole world is to have his primordial pouch kneaded, even more than having his ears done.

sashh · 30/06/2021 10:02

@FelicityBeedle Ah yes mine sometimes smells of cigarette smoke.

I've said this many times but my next door neighbour thought he was giving milk to a stray kitten, that was about 5 years ago, she still visits and I'm sure she gets dreamies.

I've seen her on another neighbour's windowsill waiting for food!
